Hi everyone,

Thanks for posting. I'm sorry to hear that you cannot cast from a Macbook after you update the software. I understand how frustrating that situation can be. But don't worry, I can help.

Here are some steps that you can try:

  1. Ensure that the browser used is Google Chrome and that it’s up to date.
  2. Check that the Chromecast device is set up correctly.
  3. Verify router setup.
  4. Check if other devices can cast successfully (example: phones, tablets, computers).
  5. Check if you are using a single- or dual-band router.
  6. Reboot the Chromecast.
  7. Reboot the casting device.
  8. Reboot the router.
  9. Check the antivirus of the computer if this is finishing an update.
  10. Perform a factory reset.

Please let me know how that works and let me know if you have more questions. I'll be happy to help.

Best regards,

Jenny

I found the problem for me, I have to set privacy "local network" for chrome.

thank you, that's exactly what I had to do. Go to my MAC "privacy and security" then local network and allow google chrome to find and communicate with devices (it was toggled off after the update)
