Hi there!

Thanks for posting here in the community. I'm sorry to hear the DStv app doesn't want to scream or download content. Help's here!

To better understand the situation, I'd like to ask a few questions:

  • When did the inconvenience start?
  • What kind of Chromecast do you have?
  • Did you get an error message?
    • If so, What does it say exactly?

Keep me posted.

Best regards,

Melan

Hi Mandisange,

Thanks for following up! I understand how inconvenient it is when you're not able to download the DStv app to your mobile device. Let’s try to fix this!

Casting or downloading apps depends on the model of the Chromecast you have and the region where you are located. In this case, I'd appreciate it if you could share a picture of your Chromecast to identify the model. Here’s a helpful article about how to identify the model of your device.

Based on the information, it seems like you're trying to add the Dstv app on your mobile device and you're getting the error message "network error." To assist you effectively, I'd like to confirm the following details:

  • Have you made any recent changes to your WiFi network?
  • Is this the first time you're trying to download the DStv app?
  • Have you tried downloading the DStv app through another mobile device?
  • Did you check if the DStv app is currently available in your region?
  • Does this inconvenience occur with other apps?

In the meantime, you can try the following:

  • Make sure you have the latest versions of the Google Home app and mobile software.
  • Ensure the mobile device and Chromecast are on the same WiFi network.
  • Verify the firmware version of your Chromecast. You can find this information in the article: Chromecast firmware versions and release notes.
  • Update your router's firmware, if needed. Sometimes routers have bugs, and there are firmware fixes to address them. Make sure your router is running the most updated software.

Please feel free to share any additional details that might be helpful.

Best regards,

Jenniffer
