Force remove chromecast without connection

Noelle

Hello,

I have been trying to remove two chromecast devices from my account for over 2 years. I do not have access to the devices, nor the internet they are connected on. On my Google Home app they show as "linked to you" yet provide me no way of unlinking them without being connected to that same network.

Why do I have to be connected to that same network to remove these devices from displaying on my profile?

Try these steps:

  • Open the Google Home app.
  • Tap Settings.
  • Tap the arrow next to Devices, groups and rooms.
  • Tap the room the device was assigned to.
  • Tap the device.
  • Tap Remove device.

If those steps don't work, try these steps:

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Tap your photo or initials at the top right.
  3. Tap Assistant settings.
  4. Tap Devices.
  5. Tap the device.
  6. Tap Unlink this device.

Hi David,

Thank you for your answer. Unfortunately the devices do not show up as assigned to any room.

I tried looking in the assistant settings as well and only a select amount of my devices are showing up there, unfortunately not the ones I want unlinked

In that case, another place you can check is here:

I talked to support and they gave me all your above mentioned options. It does not show anywhere but on the main screen in the app. Just shows "linked to you" but does not allow me to do anything with them or show them anywhere else on my account.

There should be a way to force remove devices like this from your account without being on the same internet etc.. Thank you anyways!
