Google Home Cast only Audio with black screen

Hi, I tried casting my android device via google cast to my Sony X80H android TV, it has built-in google cast. First time it connected seamlessly. But from the next time, it shows casting but only a black screen appears with audio. Tried the following

1.Both the devices are in the same wifi network.

2.The Softwares are up to date.

3.Tried clearing Cache and app data of Chromecast and Rebooted both the devices.

Any help is much appreciated.

  • Ima take a wild guess and say you have a Samsung phone... if so pull down your task bar click on media output then select the setting's button in the top right corner... you have two different options for your wifi speaker playback preferences ethier mirroring or casting whichever one you have set currently change it and that should solve your problem buddy!

Wish I had a Samsung, mine is a Xiaomi device and sadly there's no such option for speaker playback preference.

Hi @Arun06

Thank you for reaching out and the comprehensive information you've provided. I understand that you're encountering an issue when you are casting audio from your Google TV and you're seeing a black screen with audio. I'm here to help you find a solution together.

To assist you with the best solution, I would like to get a bit more information:

  • Were there any recent changes to your environment, such as a change in Wi-Fi network or relocation of the device?
  • When did this behavior first begin?
  • Have you experienced any power outages in your area?

In the meantime, you can follow these steps, or you can check these steps on this article: Fix problems with casting

  • From the Google TV home screen, select All settings.
  • Select Apps See all apps.
  • Find the app Google Cast.If you can't find it, select Show system apps or find it in the Disabled apps section.
  • To turn the app on, select Enable.
  • To reboot your device, select Settings  System  Restart.
  • Connect your TV and device to the same Wi-Fi network.
  • From the Google TV home screen, select All settings.
  • Under Network & Internet, find the name of the Wi-Fi network your TV is connected to. Make sure it's the same as the network on the device you want to cast from.
  • Update your Google TV.
  • From the Google TV home screen, select All settings.
  • Select System About System Update.
  • If an update is available, follow the on-screen instructions to install it.

Additional: If these steps don't work, please follow these other instructions:

  • Unplugged your TV
  • Wait one minute.
  • Plug back in and try to cast once again.

Thank you for your attention, let me know how it goes.

Best regards,

Jeremy.
