Today, I powered up my relatively new Google TV Streamer, and it presented me with the Verify it's you page. Got to the keyboard on the Google Home app on my phone, and entered the appropriate credentials. Screen went to black, and then popped up the same Verify it's you challenge. Enter, repeat.
I attempted to
1. soft reset (did not resolve)
2. Power cycle (did not resolve)
3. remove the account and re-add it (error that the account was already on the system despite being deleted)
Only resolution I could come up with factory reset, and start all over again.
This is really unacceptable. First, I shouldn't have to re-validate the account through a keyboard oriented GUI on a set top box. This should be done, if it has to be done, via Google Home or other phone app, like every other streaming app. Second, putting in a security reverification that forceably prevents you from using the system at all is a total user interface fail for this kind of device. Finally, having to fall all the way back to factory reset to revalidate my account on the device for no clear reason is just wrong.
I want to be clear here. There was and is nothing wrong with the account. I was able to verify that at the time of the challenge on phone & laptop. Network connectivity was working fine. There were no security issues with it, no lockouts, nothing.
I should be able to delete the account from the streamer and re-add it, and recover all my app authentication state. Better would be a phone app challenge/response to verify.
Is this going to be a regular event now? Every 30 days (or whatever) some auth token ages out & I have to reverify the account by factory reset? That's going to drive me off Google and to another streaming service for sure.
Any suggestions on debugging or alternatives to factory reset would be welcome.

Hi @Winchester99,
Thank you for posting in the community. I'm sorry to hear you experienced some inconveniences verifying your account while setting up your Google TV Streamer (4K). It's helpful to know you were able to resolve it by factory resetting your device, and I appreciate you sharing that with us.
Once your device is set up and added to the Google Home app, you should not experience this again unless you reset the device to add it to a different account or home. We're always looking for ways to improve, and we appreciate your feedback.
Don't hesitate to reach out if you need help with your Google Nest devices.
Regards,
Anders

Hi, perhaps I wasn't clear. This *was* experienced after initial setup.
I had already fully set it up, and been using it for weeks when I got this challenge again, which I was unable to resolve except for factory reset.
