Google TV and Chromecast suddenly can't connect to WiFi network

My newer chromecast and my Google TV (TCL) today are suddenly having issues connecting to my WiFi network. The chromecast was just periodically saying "no connection" but then would connect. But then when I went to watch my Google television it would either say it couldn't find the network or when it did find the network, say that there was no internet. EVERY other device - my Peleton, Sonos, phone, laptops, etc. can connect to my wifi network. And I can cast to my older chromecast device (connected to a different tv)  from my phone. I plugged and unplugged the Google TV (have you tried rebooting it....) and after 3 tries it did finally work for awhile and now it is having the same issue again.

Hi @lonegunwoman74!

Thank you for posting in the community. I'm sorry to hear that your newer Chromecast and your Google TV (TCL) are having issues connecting to your WiFi network, stating "no connection" or that there is no internet, despite other devices working correctly. I appreciate your efforts in taking those steps before. I'm happy to help you!

To help me find the best solution, I'll need to ask you a few questions:

  • What is the model of your Chromecast device? Here's an article that can help you identify it: Chromecast and Google TV Streamer specifications.
  • Are you using a mesh Wi-Fi system, a single router, or a router with extenders?
  • How far are the newer Chromecast and Google TV (TCL) located from your router or the nearest mesh node/extender? Are there any significant obstructions (like thick walls) in between?
  • Is your Chromecast device connected directly to a power source or to the TV's USB port?

Please keep me posted. I'll be waiting for your response.

Best regards,
Geremi
