Hi there. I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, so please point me elsewhere if needs be
In the past 2 weeks now or thereabouts, my Pixel phone no longer seems to be able to cast photos from my Google photos app to my Android TV but instead just gives a black screen after attempting to cast. Coincidentally I think, but can't be 100% sure, but this might've coincidenced with an Android software update on my phone.
If I have a video in my photos folder I can hear it on the tv but it's just a black blank screen.
My phone will cast videos if on websites, for example, and there is a casting option/button symbol option there, but it's not possible to use the 'screen cast' option either.
I've gone through all the settings on both devices to make sure everything is up to date, including any software updates etc. I've tried resetting the TV, turning everything on/off again. Only thing I've not done is factory reset my tv or phone.
Does anyone else have this problem or have any suggestions? All gratefully received.
Many thanks,
Andy

Same issues with Pixel 6a and 7a casting to Vizio tv with Chromecast built-in. Everything up-to-date. Other devices can cast Photos to Vizio, and 6a and 7a can cast Photos to other TVs/chromecast

Hi FranzP,
Thank you for posting.
I just want to confirm. Did you check the previous post about Google Photos casting issues in Pixel Community?
Additionally, you can contact Samsung's phone support for further assistance with this issue. They should be able to provide guidance on casting Google photos to your Sony TV.
Please let me know if you have more questions.
Regards,
Byron

I have the same problem with my Pixel 3a and a Sony TV (Android 10) with Chromecast built-in. It used to work just fine, but now tapping the cast icon in Google Photos just causes a black screen to appear on the TV, nothing else.
The same happens with Samsung phones, so I suspect there's rather a problem with the TV Chromecast feature. Deleting data/uninstalling updates unfortunately did nothing to resolve the problem 😞
Anyone with this issue managed to fix it?

After manually uninstalling updates of the Google Cast app on my TV, it now works again! That can't be good though... The ratings of the app in the Play Store are full of people describing this exact same issue.
Please fix this, Google.
