Group audio not playing on Chromecast with Google TV

Just recently my Chromecast with Google TV has stopped playing audio when I cast to an audio group. I can cast an audio app to it if it's on its own, but not as a group. 

I've tried restarting, factory resetting, deleting and remaking groups, resetting WiFi, the works. Nothing that makes it play as part of a group, despite it working just fine for months.

I just started having the same issue. It's no longer in my speaker group and not listed as a option to add it to any groups.

To better understand the situation, I'd like to ask a few questions:

 

  • What model of speakers do you have?
  • How many speakers do you have?
  • Did you receive any error messages?
  • Did you cast an audio group on a Chromecast with Google TV or another Chromecast?

Hi there-

- group consists of the CwGTV, two Chromecast Audios, and a Nest mini. 

- no error messages, the CwGTV either isn't an option to add to the group, or, when I can force it sometimes, simply won't play the group audio. 

- I've previously cast audio to the entire group without any issue, this is a new development

- I've checked the firmware, it claims it's all up to date.

Thanks for the follow-up information. I understand how frustrating it can be when the Group Audio on your Chromecast with Google TV isn't working as expected.

 

Try the steps here:

 

  • Edit a speaker group: Try adding your two Chromecast Audios and a Nest Mini to the group. To ensure if the Chromecast with Google TV is compatible, please don't include it in the group audio. Follow these steps to Edit a speaker group.

I have the same issue my Chromecast with Google TV cannot be added to a speaker group via the new group or edit group actions

Hello, these steps have not resolved the issue. I am still unable to add a Chromecast with Google TV to a speaker group.

 

Can you please confirm if this is a bug? As there are now multiple posts for the same issue in the past couple of weeks.

Thank you for your reply, however the post you have linked is not the same issue as described in this post. Can you please confirm if the inability to add Chromecast with Google TV to a speaker group is a known bug? Is there anywhere within the Google support webpages that logs and confirms current known issues that I can refer to?

Any update on this bug?  Insane to think that the latest and greatest updates from Google was cause such an issue overnight and be an issue for over a month.
