Help with Netflix App on chromecast with google tv

I currently have a chromecast with google tv, and all of the apps are working fine except for Netflix.

When the app is opened it enters the loading screen, where the red loading wheel just turns for 30 seconds to which it jumps to screen with the following message:

Netflix has encountered an error. code NW-2-5.

If I run a network check through the App all three netflix servers and the network check shows connection.

I've uninstalled and re-installed the app, cleared the cache data and all data on the app and the chromecast, reset the wifi router and connection, unplugged the power from the chromecast and the wifi router, reset the app through netflix on the chromecast and finally did a full system reset of the chromecast. Unfortuntely this was all witout success and would like to find out if anyone can help me fix the problem.

Thanks in advance

Hi Werner1989

The Netflix error code NW-2-5 on your Chromecast with Google TV indicates a connection issue between the Chromecast and Netflix servers. You've done a great job trying various troubleshooting steps, so let's explore some additional options:

1. Check Internet Bandwidth:

  • Minimum Requirements: Make sure your internet plan meets Netflix's minimum bandwidth requirements. You can check these on the Netflix website or use a speed test service like [https://goo.gle/2yeQHqF] to verify your internet speed.

2. Disable VPN or Proxy:

  • Temporary Disable: If you're using a VPN or proxy server, disable them temporarily to see if they're interfering with the connection.

3. Verify DNS Settings:

  • Automatic DNS Preferred: By default, your Chromecast should use automatic DNS settings. However, some users have reported success switching to a public DNS server like Google DNS. Consult your Chromecast or router manual for instructions on changing DNS settings.

4. Contact Netflix Support:

  • Further Guidance: If none of the above solutions work, consider contacting Netflix support directly. They may have additional insights specific to your account or Netflix servers in your region.

Here are some additional resources that you might find helpful:

By trying these additional steps and potentially reaching out to Netflix support, you should hopefully be able to resolve the NW-2-5 error and get your Netflix app working smoothly on your Chromecast with Google TV.

Keep us posted.
