How to stream 4K movies from PC to Chromecast without lag?

hello1233

I'm trying to stream a 4K movie from my PC to the Chromecast. However, this movie lags as hell. I've first tried it to stream from the VLC media player, but that didn't work. Then I tried streaming it from Plex (installed it on both my PC as my Chromecast), but still had the lag issue.

My TV is wired (although Chromecast uses wifi only I think), and my PC as well. I also have a good router (Netgear Nighthawk R7000) which is capable of high internet speeds.

What is wrong with my setup?

Your computer is a laptop or a desktop unit? Does it have a HDMI output port? If it does, use it.

Furthermore, if the TV do not have support for Dolby Digital Plus decoding, you may want to disable surround sound on the Chromecast device.

Also, if you can use a gigabit Ethernet adapter for Chromecast with Google TV or a powered USB-C hub with gigabit Ethernet port, your Chromecast may have a more stable connection.

You need to have a Chromecast Ultra, or CcwGTV for 4k, and probably a CC Ethernet adapter. You make that be better served with a Roku as it has Plex app available.

OP has said he has CcwGTV.

Technically it should work, sounds like a signal problem. Have you tried testing the signal strength on the Chromecast?
