Is it possible to stream content in 4K resolution with Chromecast?

Hi!

Can Chromecast support the streaming of content in stunning 4K resolution? Are there specific requirements or settings that users need to be aware of to enjoy high-definition content on their compatible 4K televisions?

Here's the requirements to view 4K content:

  • 4K content is supported only on Chromecast with Google TV (4K) and Chromecast Ultra models.
  • All Chromecast devices require a TV with High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) 1.3 or higher built-in. HDCP 2.2 is required to support 4K content. Most televisions that are five years old or newer and have HDMI ports will have at least one port that supports HDCP 2.2.
  • For 4K content, you need a 4K-capable TV and high-speed Internet connection of at least 20 Mbps.
  • The service you want to cast or stream content from must provide the content itself in 4K (sounds obvious, but worth mentioning!)
