My Android is disconected frequently from the Chromecast

My Android is disconected every time I use Youtube from.the Chromecast.

Everytime I'm watching a video on YouTube, it disconnects by itself. I connect again and after a few minutes it disconnects again. And this happens several times.

Hello @Cláudia,

Thank you for posting in the community. I understand that your Android phone keeps disconnecting from your Chromecast while you're trying to watch YouTube videos. It's certainly challenging when a connection drops unexpectedly, and I'd be happy to help you get this resolved.

To help me understand the issue better, could you please provide a few more details?

  • What is the specific model of your Chromecast? (If you are not sure, please visit our Help Center to know more about Chromecast and Google TV Streamer specifications.)

  • What is the model of your Android phone?
  • Does this issue happen with other apps when you try to cast, or is it only with YouTube?
  • Have you already tried any troubleshooting steps?

In the meantime, here are a couple of basic troubleshooting steps that often help with connectivity issues:

  • Reboot your Chromecast: Unplug your Chromecast from its power source for about a minute, and then plug it back in.
  • Reboot your router: Unplug your Wi-Fi router for about a minute, and then plug it back in.

Please let me know if these steps help or if you have any other questions. We'll work together to find a solution.

Regards,

Kevin

Hi Kevin! Thank you for the reply!

Let me give you the informations you asked:

  • What is the specific model of your Chromecast? - the model is The simple one, Chromecast. I've checked the link you sent and mine is the first of the list.

  • What is the model of your Android phone? - I have an Xiaomi Redimi Note 12 pro  - Android 12

  • Does this issue happen with other apps when you try to cast, or is it only with YouTube? - It only happens when I'm using Youtube.
  • Have you already tried any troubleshooting steps? - Yes, I did. I also did what you told me to and rebooted my chromecast and my modem, but the problem still happens.

I'm sorry for my english, I'm from Brazil.
Thank you so much for the help´!

Hi @Cláudia,

Thank you so much for the detailed information and for trying those initial steps. I really appreciate you taking the time to share the details.

Based on what you've shared, it seems the problem is specific to the YouTube app on your phone, as other apps are not affected. Since rebooting the devices didn't solve the issue, let's try a few steps that are more focused on the app itself.

Please follow these steps:

  • Clear the cache and data for the YouTube app:

  • On your Xiaomi phone, go to Settings > Apps > Manage apps.
  • Find and select YouTube.
  • Tap Clear data and then select Clear all data and Clear cache.
  • Check for updates:

  • Open the Google Play Store.
  • Search for the YouTube app and see if there are any available updates.
  • You can also check for updates to Google Play Services, as this is essential for casting.

Thank you again for your patience. If you have any other questions or need help with a Google Nest device, please feel free to post again.

Regards,

Kevin
