New Chromecast Remote and Aldi Vivid TV

I’ve been using an old chromecast in the bedroom (like 1st or 2nd gen), just casting my iPad to it.  It’s become a bit unreliable, so I purchased a new chromecast, which now comes with the remote.

I also have google nests throughout the house, and can comtrol my Sony Bravia just by telling google.

So the new chromecast is being plugged into an old Aldi Vivid TV, probably 10 years old (cause I don’t want an expensive tv in the bedroom)..  problem is, I went to set up the remote, but “aldi” or “vivid” isn’t in the list of tv brands (which seems quite comprehensive).

I don’t really care if I can’t turn the tv on and off or change the volume through the google remote, however, if it did work, then I should be able to use my nests to control the tv - correct?

so is there a workaround so that the remote does work?  I can find the tv code for a universal remote online,  can I add that? Otherwise, is the Vivid just too old to work?  Does it have a parent co. Brand That I can add instead?  Any suggestions?

No. You'd be able to control the volume, power, and input using the remote control. However, there is a setting you can turn on to control the volume (nothing else) using voice control on speakers and displays. See the "Control volume with voice, phone, or smart display screen" section here.

It would be impossible for Google to list absolutely every TV brand/manufacturer. You can use some trial and error by selecting the other manufacturer's listed. Alternatively, try a Google search or see if they have forums to see if someone else may have found one that works for your brand of TV. There isn't a feature or setting to manually add codes unfortunately.
