My old chromecast had no problem adjusting the volume on my Integra Receiver, however the new Google Streamer remote only bumps the volume 1 step per press, and does not continue to move the volume when held down. Please correct this bug. Repeatedly pressing the volume button is a very slow way to get to the correct volume level.

Good morning, all --
I recently upgraded to the new Google TV Streamer and encountered the same issue with my Yamaha receiver: the remote would only adjust the volume in small increments, instead of allowing continuous adjustment when holding the button down.
After some research, I found a solution that worked for my Yamaha receiver and potentially help with other receivers too:
Once I switched to Auto (CEC), the volume control functioned as expected, allowing me to hold the button for continuous adjustment. This fix worked immediately for me and could potentially apply to other receiver brands as well.
Hope this helps!

The streamer is brand new. I have done all the steps of setting up the remote for my Integra receiver. There is only one option that works and it is the option that produces the single step volume movement. I have repeated the setup multiple times. My old Chromecast did not have this issue with the same equipment.

I have the same problem with a Yamaha receiver and a brand new 4K streamer. Volume button works, but does not repeat when held down. I previously used a Chromecast with YouTube TV, and that remote used to repeat volume up and volume down signals when the button was held down. As an experiment, I paired my old Chromecast remote to the new 4K streamer, and now it does not repeat volume up/volume down.

I have not found steps that resolved my situation. On any remote that has volume since the history of time the volume signal must repeat when held down in order to continue moving the volume. This standard practice is not being followed by your device. My receiver is an Integra DTR 50.4. it operated perfectly with your older Chromecast, but you have not resolved anything with the new streamer.
I never reported that this issue was resolved absolutely nothing has been done.

I have now set up my remote to Auto CEC as suggested by MLeg11. This works for me, but it still does not resolve issues for those using infrared. The repeat functionality needs to be on infrared also. My volume issue is now resolved.

I am also using a brand new Google TV Streamer, and I have a Yamaha A/V Receiver model RX-V679, which uses IR.
Of the 5 available codes for Yamaha receivers, mine is ONLY compatible with the very first code.
As reported by the original poster, the volume buttons on the Google TV Streamer only adjust the Yamaha receiver in single increments.
Two previous generations of Chromecasts (and probably more) featured remotes which by default repeated IR commands indefinitely so long as a volume button was held. Several generations of Roku, as well. DirecTV remotes are also on the list of "engineered completely."
Is there an update that can be pushed to resolve this? Coupled with the fact that I had to use my PC and the Google Play Store to install several apps that refused to appear on the app search on the Google TV Streamer (Plex, namely), I'm pretty underwhelmed with the new model thus far.

Experiencing the exact same thing here with my Yamaha receiver- upon some searching, I hilariously found a thread from 4 years ago on the same topic regarding the previous generation Chromecast.
I'm now noticing tonight that my old Chromecast (Google TV 4K) shows a *remote* firmware version of 26.7.
This new Google Streamer I set up tonight is showing a remote firmware version of, wait for it... 1.00.
Here's to hoping this is something that's addressed post-haste in the firmware updates!

Okay, Byron.
I have clicked the included link highlighted as "feedback," which took me to a Google feedback survey which did not provide the Google TV Streamer (4K) as an option under streaming (just previous generation Chromecasts, whoopsie-doodle!), however I typed that in the "other" field.
I classified my feedback as "complaint."
I look forward to a firmware update to rectify this oddly less functional OEM remote.
Got any kind of feedback for me, Byron? I'm sure many of us would appreciate any kind of progress you could share on the Google side of things.
Thank you so much!
Robert
