Out of the Box Google TV Streamer won't update and is unusable

Fresh out of the box Google TV Streamer won't update and "due to the importance of the update" it won't let me continue.

I have tried connecting over ethernet, wireless, and even an open guest wifi. In all scenarios it connects fine but when it tries to update the system it shows it is trying to update but then stops and screen says "Couldn't download system update". Opions are "Try again" or "Go to network settings" which just lets me change what network I am connecting to.

I have factory reset and power cycled the device and come to the same error over and over again.

Try these steps:

1. Unplug the power cable from the device.

2. Hold down the reset button on the back of the device, then plug the power cable in.

3. Let go of the reset button after a few seconds once it's powered up.
