Hi Akstyles23,

Thanks for posting in the community.

I understand how concerning it is when you've successfully set up your Chromecast, but cannot cast to your TV. I can see that you're trying to figure out why you're unable to find the device and why the Google Home app is showing the 'TV not available' error and can't find the device when you try to cast from YouTube. Don't worry, help is here.

Please answer the following questions to help me figure this out:

  • What model of Chromecast device do you have? You can use this Google Help Center article to help identify your device: Chromecast and Google TV Streamer specifications.
  • Are you using the latest version of the Google Home app? If not, this Google Nest Help Center article provides helpful instructions: Update the Google Home app.
  • What is the firmware version of your Chromecast? You can use this Google Help Center article as a reference: Find your device’s firmware version.
  • Are you using an Android or an iPhone to set up your Chromecast?
  • Is your smartphone's operating system updated?
  • How far is your Chromecast from the router?
  • What is the status of the LED light that you can see on the failing Chromecast?
  • Are your smartphone and the Chromecast connected to the 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz WiFi network?
  • Are there mirrors, radios, or other devices that require WiFi connectivity near the Chromecast?

In the meantime, I recommend you try the following steps to restore the communication between your Chromecast and your WiFi network:

 Restart your router:

  1. Disconnect your WiFi router from the power socket and leave it unplugged for 2 minutes.
  2. Check if the router's LED lights are off when it's unplugged. Some routers have backup battery packs, so you may need to disconnect these to ensure the router completely turns off.
  3. After 2 minutes have passed, plug in the router.
  4. Check that all the router's LED lights are on and the network name appears on your mobile device's WiFi list. Verify that you can connect your Chromecast. If not, go to the next step.

Reboot the Chromecast:

  1. Unplug the USB-C connection from your Chromecast to disconnect it from the power source.
  2. Leave the device unplugged for one minute, then plug it back in.

Please let me know how it goes.

Best regards,

Virna
