Same here. Stopped working all of a sudden and refuses to setup   even from scratch. "Can't authenticate your Chromecast".  What's happening???

As an aside, all my other google home automations are still

working. Just the chrome casts have disconnected.

If they really ended support on a Sunday evening without any notice, this is well out of order.

I got the same problem.

Did a factory reset and now it says it can authenticate my chromecast anymore

Same issue

From morning it shows not trusted device and request to update firmware. I did factory reset but it still does not work

I m from Belgium, it happens to me too with the same message. Any solution?

Same here. India

Same here, from Argentina

same here. it was casting perfectly fine the entire day, then i paused my show to do something for about 30 minutes, give or take, then it just wouldn’t connect again no matter how many times i restarted just about everything 😕

this quite literally just happened to me at 12:50p today. what in the world do we do - just install a newer model? it would be great if google would tell us what to do.

Same here in Sweden 😢

O mesmo aqui no Brasil

I am facing the same issue. I tried a factory reset and tried to add the device to my Google home but I am unable to do so now. It says the authentication is unsuccessful.

Me too. The Chromecast on my TV but my phone and the Google home app say it's 'offline'  unplugged turned everything off, back on again. Have Wi-Fi. Try to support call got cut off they will not allow me to call again. So frustrating! I keep thinking of something to do with daylight savings time. But that's unlikely. So, totally feel your pain!

Thank god i didnt buy the Google Car

Same here. Can't authenticate after factory reset. Seems to be happening to all 2nd gen Chromecast and audio devices.

Same issue, Belgium

Same here Denmark…☹️

Same issue, Austria

Same in NH, USA

Same issue, Brazil

The same in Poland

Cannot reconnect my Chromecast-2 in the Netherlands as well.
Factory reset of CC and my router.
Even removed the "Home" app, android reboot.
Nothing helps.

Must be an issue at google.

Gen2 chromecast. same issue. Can't configure after factory reset. Cannot authenticate error.

O mesmo acontecendo aqui.

Both of mine too grrrrrr!!!! Not happy!!!!

Same happened to me...

Same here in Canada. Started about an hour ago. Was having issues with casting so I reset to factory setting like I always do when I'm having casting problems. But this time it shows "cannot authenticate Chromecast". I have 2nd gen Chromecast.

Same here in Netherlands

I have the same problem here in Argentina. I have two Chromecast devices and both have the same problem. How do I fix them?

Same problem from Greece! Gen 2 devise

Ok, so 2nd and third Gen Chromecasts all have this problem. First Gen appears not to have this problem. Strange, must be an expired certificate in the firmware. So we'll be all waiting till Google pushes a firmware update, which can take months, if they even update it. Real crap, have to watch television on my phone for now 😑

Same here. Seems to me to be a service issues by Google.

Let's wait for them to answer us what's going on

I doubt it's a firmware issue. If that were the case, chromecast audios would not be affected. They haven't had updates for years. A certificate issue is more likely.

Same happend here, both Chromecasts same issues - untrusted firmware. No warning, I did read Google stopped updating service on them somewhere. If this is the case, might consider staying away from all Google service and products.

Same here!!!! All my chromecast audio devices!!! Reset everything but can't add any chromecast audio to google home!

Ho lo stesso problema, si è verificato subito dopo l'aggiornamento dell'app Home

Same here, gen 2, Sweden.
