When you reset the device you cannot reconfigure it because it throws an error when trying to do so, which means you are unable to use the Chromecast device at all.

I tried factory reset without success.
03-09-2025 01:03 PM
Versão do firmware: Não sei

Hello,
I have restarted Chromecast by disconnecting power but also restarted to factory default (made it on several devices). None of these actions helps.
I am using Google Chromecast v2:
"build_version":"275994","cast_build_revision":"1.56.275994", "locale":"en-US"
Thanks for the support.
If you need more info please let me know how to grab it for you.
Best Regards
Piotr

After factory reset the device cannot be configured again. It fails on the connecting stage and cannot proceed.
Where can we see updates on how and when this can be fixed?

Bonjour.

03-09-2025 02:29 PM
It's the first thing users do when it doesn't work, users all over the world are having issues
03-09-2025 02:35 PM
I'm having the same issue here in Brazil.
It was working few hours ago and now no more. After the factory reset it can't authenticate in the Google home app again.
My device is the Chromecast 2nd gen.
Brazil
03-09-2025 02:43 PM
I've done all that. Nothing helped !
03-09-2025 02:43 PM
Hi Jill, I had the same issue today, factory reset did not help
03-09-2025 02:47 PM
Provato e riprovato e continua a dire che è impossibile autenticare .
03-09-2025 02:51 PM
Same here, reseting doesn't work, nothing works
03-09-2025 02:53 PM
03-09-2025 03:07 PM
Second gen ChromeCast in Euro region.
I was using it normally today; made a pause on my watching, Turning off the TV and when I tried to re cast hours later, I got the Authentication error. The device remained on my Wifi as it was going through the images, but home app showed it as offline (Orange router app showed the Chromecast was still connected and active).
I tried unplugging for 5 minutes (which still went into my wifi but no casting function), factory reset, deleting it from Home app, recreating Home profile, resetting my Wifi + renewed IP.
But it is still unable to authenticate.
03-09-2025 03:42 PM
Any solution yet? Appears a worldwide authentication problem.
03-09-2025 03:49 PM
I am also having this issue in British Columbia. It was working fine but just stopped. I don't know our model but I think it may be a 2
03-09-2025 03:56 PM
What's not getting authenticated is the home app. The device itself is working perfectly fine. It gets reseted, it goes to the setup process smoothly, it generates the pairing code and then Home app says it couldn't authenticate!!! 😡🤬 I tried several times already. Also following the hack of connecting directly to the device. It's really annoying!!!!
In the morning working perfectly and in the evening clashing. Could you rollback wathever change you may have released!!! It's really upsetting...
03-09-2025 03:56 PM
I'm with the same issue and factory reset didn't help at all. It's not working
03-09-2025 04:01 PM

03-09-2025 04:21 PM

We did it already... I tried to reset both of my devices, I've even uninstalled my Google Home app... nothing is fixing this problem. This seems to be global, I'm from São Paulo, Brasil.
