But when I try to connect to the wifi, it says that i have to give access to my local network, it gives the option to go directly to the place in iphone settings where you can s itch it on and off. I have switch all access option on “bluetooth, local network even camera” but i can’t get past this point.
It also says i cant communicate with my device “iphone” .. I have tried to turn my phone off and the wifi off… but nothing seems to work. Please help me

I have the same situation since today. Tried everything: updated Google Home app, reboot Chronecast 2, turned off and reopen the IPhone, reboot the wi-if extender. Nothing worked. It just does not connect to wi-fi.
Hope that someone will come to a solution, I am totally helpless….

Hi,
My 2nd Gen suddenly disconnected from the router and I haven't been able to figure out how to re connect.
Router SSID Has not changed and has also been rebooted. Chromecast has been factory reset a couple of times.
Tried via Google Home app on iPhone and it got to the connect to wifi screen before the chrome cast would be stuck on "connecting" and then iphone will say "something went wrong"
When tried with ipad google home app, chromecast would show the 4 digit pin but the ipad wouldn't even show that.
Chromecast's SSID is broadcasting, not sure what other steps i could take here

Hello, so yesterday i went to use my chromecast and watch a Video on youtube, I saw that my Youtube Chromecast couldnt work and said its "not verrified", i thought its a random bug i went to reset it and it said "we coudlnt authenicate your chromecast", then i asked google it said Factory Reset it , it maybe works, so now i saw that they say not to factory reset, Does That Mean My device wont get fixed?
03-10-2025 09:01 AM
Ho lo stesso problema
03-10-2025 09:11 AM
As I, many people did a factory reset. It's a normal logical procedure.
Google knows this and will come with a procedure for this.
If you don't want to wait for that, yo might try what I did;
I set the time on my android mobile to an earlier date. Then I installed, with google home, the chromecast. That worked. BUT... it won't change the cerificate problem, the main issue, and we won't be able to cast. Hope, I could help you a bit with this answer.
03-10-2025 09:17 AM
Thanks man, i was worried that i couldnt use my chromecast anymore♥️
03-10-2025 09:15 AM
what announcement ?
03-10-2025 09:18 AM
People online say that google said to Not Factory reset
03-10-2025 10:00 AM
It would have been helpful if you have announced this earlier or at least made the issue known to your customer service.
03-10-2025 11:10 AM
Bonjour,
Wait and see comme dirait l'autre mais bon.
Perso, je suis allée m'acheter un Fire stick Xiaomi 🙂

Spent hours trying solutions. Tried other chromecast, changed hdmi ports, factory resets, reset router... nothing! Deprived of TV for the night. Horrors! Not sure how the fix will be communicated. Any information?
03-10-2025 01:22 PM
Nothing yet. Google support posted in here earlier that they were working on it. Luckily I have an ultra that wasn't affected so wasn't totally down. If I see anything I'll post back in here. Trying to keep an eye on Reddit and Google blogs to see who makes an announcement first
03-10-2025 05:51 PM
Contacted Google. They pushed a new firmware yesterday and admitted they had this problem globally. They are working to fix the issue.
03-10-2025 10:58 PM
Kanno risposto troppo tardi.

Yes I’ve had same phone, same TV, same internet and same chrome cast for past 4 years. Now suddenly Google Home can’t connect the device to my iphone. It stinks that no announcement was made or notice given that the my chromecast Gen 2 is now obsolete. I knew they were discontinuing chromecast but this is fresh BS!
03-11-2025 02:30 AM
Hi from Italy.
Same problem here since sunday
I done reset to factory data and then reconnected the Chomecast by setting phone date before march 8, but, as known, doesn't work yet.
Wait for Google solution
03-12-2025 01:06 AM
I think the problem will be solved by buying an Amazon stick!

Hi @matthieubrucher and all,
I will escalate this to our Chromecast team.
In the meantime please try to restart or reset your Chromecasts. How to factory reset your Chromecast or Google TV Streamer - Android - Streaming Help
Can you let us know the device you are using, your region and the Cast firmware version. (Device info, Tech info)
Thanks!
03-09-2025 10:53 AM
Quando será solucionado?
03-09-2025 10:59 AM
Have tried that of course.
Firmware version? No idea. On the screen saying 0625. Another time it was 3574. Same Chromecast
03-09-2025 11:22 AM
Hi there. It's a gen 2 chromecast
Technische Informationen
Version der Systemfirmware: 275994
Cast-Firmware: 1.56.275994
And several chromecast audios were I can't get to the version information any more.
03-09-2025 11:40 AM
Have reset router, phone, and Chromecast and still getting the issue.
03-09-2025 12:03 PM
I’m in Sweden, Gothenburg. Doesn’t work here.
I just have the standard old chrome cast, like 1st or 2nd gen. Really old. Cant find the info in the app from it, but system firmware version is 275994.
thanks!
03-09-2025 12:07 PM
the same issue for Chromecast gen2 , from Romania, "we couldn't authenticate your Chromecast...."
03-09-2025 12:23 PM
Happening in Ireland. Cast firmware 1.56.275994. system firmware 275994. Chromecast won't reboot either from the Home app.
03-09-2025 12:23 PM
Re-booted router / chromecast, still unable to authenticate. Based UK. Not sure what version or firmware.
03-09-2025 12:27 PM
Reset all devices...now I can't connect any chromecast to google home. Model RUX J42.
03-09-2025 12:42 PM
When you reset the device you cannot reconfigure it because it throws an error when trying to do so, which means you are unable to use the Chromecast device at all.
