We sincerely apologize for this disruption and any inconvenience it may have caused, and we are committed to ensuring all users are back up and running as quickly as possible.

Me pasa lo mismo.

Hola!

ESTOU DESESPEREADO SEM O CHROMECAST...

ESTOU PENSANDO A MESMA COISA EU IA COMPRAR A ULTIMA VERSÃO DO CHROMECAST... MAS PERDI AA CONFIANÇA...

ACHO QUE VOU TER QUE COMPRAR AMAZON OU OUTRO

Hello,

I have installed 10 pcs of Google Chromecast v2 devices and all after update to firmware 1.56.275994 stop working.

Now when I am trying to connect from latest YouTube or Netflix application there is error message like: “<ChromecastName> couldn’t be verified. This could be caused by outdated device firmware.”

I have restarted one device to factory default and configured again but that not changed anything, and the message is still there.

I have made test on Google Chromecast v3, and all works fine from the same mobile device. I made tests from iPhone with iOS 18 and from several Android devices.

Please propose solution for that issue.

The problem has been also reported by some of mine friends which are using the same Chromecast model.
Thanks for the support.

Weird thing is that the two last messages about this topic got erased from google. One was sent 12 mins ago second 2 mins ago.

I was replying and suddenly the topic was not existing any more.

Hi! I have exactly the same issue as you. I been trying to connect it to wifi but I keep getting errors.

Same issue.

Two hours ago I wasn't able to cast to my TV because of authentication problems.

I tried to reset my chromcast, turn off my wifi, nothing worked.

Same issue. Can't cast from my smartphone to my TV.

(ITALY)

It should be solved at Google 's end like the clock size a few weeks ago. It is a worldwide outage affecting gen 2 models. Hopefully Google team is aware of the problem.

Thanks Condor. That’s really helpful. I’ll stop trying to solve my issue. Hopefully will be able to complete re installation tomorrow 🤞

Confermo, da circa 3 ore

They just might have discontinued Gen2 Chromecast and CCA. The only question now is, if the amount of complaints surprises them or whether this is what they expected. They should know the amount of people streaming on those OG devices, I'm afraid. A heads-up a few months earlier would have been great. Obviously, this is what you can expect from them these days.

Come on @google at least acknowledge this.

JA É NOTÓRIO QUE HOUVE UMA ATUALIZAÇÃO DE FIRMWARE E GEROU ESSE PROBLEMA NO DOMINGO , POIS NÃO TEMOS SUPORTE ( BR ) E TAMBÉM RELATADO NA FRANÇA , ESPANHA, PORTUGAL , ARGENTINA E VARIOS OUTROS PAISES ...

O FATO: ESTAMOS SEM CHROMECAST...

O QUE FAZER...

AGUARDAR OS TÉCNICOS RESOLVER O ERRO ...

VAMOS AO X E TODAS AS REDES SOCIAIS EXPLICAR ISSO APARA TODOS OS OUTROS CLIENTES OU. USUÁRIOS

Complicado tenho 2 Chromecast e estamos sem poder transmitir nada.

Falta de respeito com o usuário

I read that 1st gen is out of support.

I have a 2nd generation. It has same issue. I believe support ends later this year though? Would be nice to know exact date.

It is really weird though because I'm pretty sure I've a gen 1 but yet it only happened as of today and I see I'm not the only one having trouble with the same problem

I have exactly the same issue tonight. Was working fine earlier today. Home app not showing it's existance at all.  After factory reset, the Home app gives the message that "we couldn't authenticate your chromecast..."

I have a 2nd Gen Chromecast. I've no idea where to find other update/firmware info as nothing is currently connecting to it.

Hopefully the powers that be are now aware, although I've no idea where I would find updates on the situation or what, if anything I need to do.

At least have the dignity to announce the shutdown of Chromecast gen 2 in advance! I will go to Apple because you force is to buy something new when Chromecast 2 is perfectly fine. Ruined my evening.

Same here, wanted to watch movie, "Chromecast can't be verified". Tried everything Google Help suggested, nothing works..
