If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.

The app roll out has begun and may take a few days to roll out to everyone. We’ll post a confirmation once the roll out to all users is complete.

We sincerely apologize for this disruption and any inconvenience it may have caused, and we are committed to ensuring all users are back up and running as quickly as possible.

I'm also having the same problem and I'm in New Zealand so seems to be a global thing

USA, Ohio.  EST, Daylight savings as of midnight.  Did the time change break chromecast?  Can no longer cast my screen or tab to Chromecast.

Same issue on 2 chromecast. Disappeared, reset, won't authenticate.

SOY DE ARGENTINA, PARECE QUE ES UN PROBLEMA QUE SURGIO HOY EN TODO EL MUNDO ESPERO QUE SE SOLUCIONE...!!!

same problem happening to me

Well, guess time to switch to Roku

I am extremely disappointed that it seems that Google has decided to brick my Chromecast device. It worked last night and this morning however about noon it was giving me an error message and after doing all the steps in the trouble shooting, nothing worked.. It showes up that it's ready to set up but Home won't connect. Have updated home, have reset Chromecast device.. nothing works. This seriously makes me second guess purchasing another Google device. Also when reaching out to support, I get a call only to be told I can't get help. SO seriously Google why? Now my only option is to buy Google Streamer ( which is only a few dollars less than a new TV), another brand of Streamer, or buy a New TV which I don't need. not happy

Juste happening to me on Canada. Try a reset but cannot add on;

" could not authenticate..."

ES UNA VERGÜENZA...!!!

same problem here

Similar issue.

Everything worked fine yesterday. Now we can't cast. Giving us a " Chromecast can't authenticate error". Have gone thru all troubleshooting. Have factory reset both Chromecast- no change.

Is it coincidental that there was a time change?

Same here. What's going on?!

Same for us. We have 3 chromecast. All will not work

Same issue here

My Chromecast is not connecting I don't know why I also performed a reset task ...

But at the end it says some errors occurring contact help center

Same issue than the other... Did all the trouble shooting and nothing...

Same here. It can not find the verification.

Tried everything. Followed all the steps. It is not wrong in Tv settings, not the cable and telephone settings.

It is once starting a few hours ago.

This morning everything was fine.

So frustrating.

same here, the chromecast was working yesterday, but not today, please google help resolve the issue.

I am having the same issue.  This needs to be corrected immediately and how are we to know when updated?

Oh crap, so this is all over the world? One of mine did the same exact thing today and i´ve been trying to fix it to no avail. Did a factory reset and now when I try to set it up my phone says Google home finds it but cannot connect to that temporary wifi network the Chromecast makes. Just says it cannot authenticate it or something like that.

2 x 2nd gen not working... I've tried everything, same message not authenticating... Aarrgghh!

Same issue here! Both chromecasts. Living room and bedroom.

Same here, It worked lat night (Canada EST) Google home Detect it, but we'll not authenticate it.And and I also got a firmware message to is google going to fix this

Gen 2

U.S.

Factory reset Chromecast, rebooted wifi & all other connecting devices. At least before the reset I had the nice picture & the time. Now it just says get the app I already have and then won't authenticate.

Same issue happening. I am very upset. I do not like the features of the newer Chromecast. I have one and it's so annoying because my kids can use the remote to access unrestricted YouTube and if there's a way to get around it I haven't found it. So I hid the remote for now, but I WAY prefer the older chromecast model, it is SUPERIOR...

But now just like everyone here, it is not working.

Problema de autenticação

Same here

Como uma empresa confiável pode deixar todos os clientes sem o serviço

Espero que volte a funcionar

Same problem here in Massachusetts. Looks like we are going on hour 7 now

If you change the date on your phone back 2 days, it will reconfigure but still not be found on the network. It will display time, weather and the pictures again on your TV though.

exact same issue here

Meu chromecast estava funcionando hoje normalmente, porém parou seu funcionamento de repente.

tentei fazer atualizações, reiniciar porém nada funcionou, perdi meu aparelho pois não consigo acessar para atualização.

Alguém poderia me ajudar?

Exact same issue here 😞

I'm having the same problem. I have 2 Chromecast devices and have reset both, plus I have reinstalled the home app but I only get as far as trying to add the device and being given a message that's it could not 'authenticate your Chromecast'. I've even restarted my router and reset everything again but still no success.

Same issue here - please provide a fix Google!

Glad to know it's not just me.  I spent a lot of time trying to figure it out.

Same here, tried factory reset and reinstall but google home says "impossible to authentify your chromecast. To solve go to support.google.com/chromecast".     Ihave chomecast gen 2 and chromecast audio.  I can see the pending wifi ssid of both Chromecast, i believe in a google bug.

Same, my older Chromecast won't authenticate.
