Hola.

Hello.

Due to the global problem, I reset the Chromecast to factory settings without knowing it and now it won't let me connect it to the Wi-Fi. Does anyone know why?

I går sluttet plutselig alle mine chrome cast enheter å fungere.

Otroligt. Var kan man få hjälp?

As you know there's a world problem regarding the Chromecast that Google is attempting to fix (CA expired and so on)
For people, as me, that followed the troubleshooting guide, have factory reset the device and they weren't able to complete the configuration (no connection, authentication issues...) there's a trick.
Set the clock to have datetime manually and put the date back to 8 march, on the Smartphone where you've the "Home" app by Google and start the adding of the device. You will be able to do it, also if at the end it will not be usable. At least it will be connected to Internet (as from TV screen state) and we hope Google will upgrade them.
PS) I suggest to power off the Data connection (phone provider) to avoid an automatic change of datetime by network.

Thank you for the information about the set up after resetting the device. With the tablet having the old date I managed to communicate with Chromecast and fix the settings as before. Now I can watch photos from Google collections.

Thanks a lot ! The manual date worked for me as well.

Thanks, this workaround worked just fine. I changed my phone date to manual, set march 8th 2025, and then I was able to complete the setup from google Home app. I only see Google stock photos, I can't cast, so I will pray for Google to resolve this issue for all of us 🤖

Sei un grande! I've got my device back in my Home network.... Now, we gotta wait for the patch
Grazie

Deu super certo!!!!!

This did not work for me on my ipad after changing the date

I now have two bricked ChromeCast  - Doing the date trick on my iPhone wont make them connect. In the setup process everything goes as planed, but when coming to the Wifi setup I connect to the Wifi my phone is on, and is getting a "Connected" but then right after a "An error Occurred" message, and you can start over again.

This happened to everybody with a date after the expiring one of certificate.
Did you manually set the date of the phone running "Home" to i.e. march, 8th or before? Shutdown the data connection from provider to avoid automatic date by network.

How to stop network date

Is it on router settings?

No action on router. You've Home app running on a smartphone. Is there that you've tu set the date manually and then start the add of the reset device. Shutdown the phone provider data connection to avoid automatic changement.

I did that, but unfortunately I could not load many sites that I use, they probably check the date in the OS and refused to open. I switched back to the automatic time and date, and I lost again the Chromecast.

You have to set date on your phone, not router. Just turn off automatic set of date. It worked for me as well, since I rebooted everything and couldn't connect again, BUT still don't recognise divice, which is projector in my case. I think, we just have to wait

It works for Android

It works

I prefer to wait new instructions directly once Google will have fixed up the issue...

I'm understanding. But think to this: how can the device be fixed if it's not connected to your home wi-fi? So, if you've factory reset (as me, following the procedure!) I suggest to attempt to complete the setup with that trick. After all is a not invasive method 😉
That's what I've thought too...
