Vielleicht deshalb???

Here's a notification from Google Nest Team... in a few words... we have to wait 💀 https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Streaming/Regarding-an-issue-with-Chromecast-2nd-gen-and-Chro...

If you did factory reset, please see this article, it served me well, as I also did a factory reset. This only works to get the google chromecast show the google stock wallpapers, but we still have to wait for the issue to be solved. Since March 9, 2025, users of Google's second-generation Chromecast and Chromecast Audio devices have reported encountering an "Untrusted device" error, preventing them from casting content from their smartphones or tablets. This issue appears to be isolated to these older models, while newer versions, such as the third-generation Chromecast and Chromecast Ultra, remain unaffected.

Nature of the Issue

The error message displayed reads: "Untrusted device: [device name] couldn't be verified. This could be caused by outdated device firmware." This suggests a potential problem with device verification, possibly due to outdated firmware. Users have attempted various troubleshooting methods, including restarting, factory resetting, reinstalling the Google Home app, clearing cache/data, and trying different networks, but none have resolved the issue.

Google's Response

As of now, Google has not released an official statement regarding this specific issue. However, affected users have reported that Google Support is aware of the problem and is working on a fix.

Discontinuation of Chromecast Devices

It's important to note that Google has officially discontinued its Chromecast line. In August 2024, Google announced it would cease production of Chromecast devices, shifting focus to the new Google TV Streamer. Despite this, Google committed to providing software and security updates to existing Chromecast devices until September 2025.

User Concerns

The sudden onset of this issue has led to concerns among users about the longevity and support for their older Chromecast devices. Given Google's history of sunsetting products without much warning, some fear these devices may become obsolete sooner than anticipated.

Current Status

As of March 10, 2025, there have been no further updates from Google regarding a resolution to this problem. Users experiencing this issue are advised to monitor official Google support channels for any forthcoming announcements or fixes.

Hi. My Chromecast Audio started frequently disconnecting from my network - I would need to reboot it several times a day, always at the start of being used, never during streaming.

I did a factory reset any now I can't set it up at all. I've tried multiple devices (Pixel 6a, iPhone se, android tablet), all recognise the device but cannot communicate with it at the first step of setup. I tried an older iPad (ios12), this used an older version of the Home app and got so far as trying to connect the CCA to my WiFi, but then gave the same message 'cannot communicate with device'.

In desperation I've used a different power supply and cable, but same result.

I have a sky router and I've tried disabling sky shield and changing security to WPA2 (as advised on one forum), no change (I would have been surprised if there was as it had worked before).

Feels like a settings rather than device issue, but I have no idea what settings have changed since I last set it up (moved house and broadband provider in Nov, so it wasn't a long time ago).

Thanks in advance for any help.

No entiendo nada.

Have the same problem, how can I solve it?

Same issue here. Tried all possible options.. restarting modem, resetting chromecast, and also switching to Chromecast wifi.

Google home can identify chromecast but fails to set it up. Throws cannot authenticate error.

Klopt ook hier in Noorwegen. Hoe Google informeren?

Last night, I was casting YouTube videos without any issues. However, when I tried to cast the next video, my phone suddenly showed a message saying "Failed to verify, possibly due to outdated device firmware" (I'm not sure if this was the exact wording). After trying a few times, I decided to factory reset my Chromecast. But now, I can't connect to the device at all.

At first, I thought my Chromecast might be broken, but then I tried resetting another one I had at home, and now both devices are unable to connect. During the setup process, I can find the Chromecast, but it always gets stuck at the "Connecting to Chromecast" step and eventually fails to connect.

Is anyone else experiencing the same issue?

Same here, so sad.
