Hey folks, 

If you previously performed a factory reset, we’re happy to report that the Google Home app update will reach all users today.

Please make sure you’re on version 3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio. Check out this help center article if you need help updating the Google Home app.

If you’re still experiencing problems during setup, please reach out to customer support for further assistance.

Hi folks,

Thank you for your patience as we worked to resolve the issue with Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices. As of today, this disruption has been fixed.

If you did not perform a factory reset, your device should now function normally. If it is still not functioning as intended check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.

For users who have performed a factory reset, you will need to update your Google Home app to the latest version (3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS) to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) or Chromecast Audio device again. The app roll out has begun and may take a few days to roll out to everyone. We’ll post a confirmation once the roll out to all users is complete.

We sincerely apologize for this disruption and any inconvenience it may have caused, and we are committed to ensuring all users are back up and running as quickly as possible.

Hi everyone,

Thank you again for your patience, we have some good news - the fix should reach all users today. If your device has received the update it should be on the following firmware versions:

Chromecast (2nd gen): Firmware version 1.56.467165

Chromecast Audio: Firmware version 1.56.467166

Check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.

Please note: If you performed a factory reset during the troubleshooting process, you may still be experiencing an issue where you cannot re-setup the device. The team is working diligently to resolve this, and we will provide next steps as soon as possible.

We have started to roll out a fix for the problem with Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices, which will be completed over the next few days. Your device must be connected to receive the update.

If you performed a factory reset during initial troubleshooting, you may still be experiencing an issue where you cannot re-setup your device. We are working to resolve this as soon as possible. Please continue to check the Community page here for updates and next steps.

An update on the situation: the team has identified the cause of the issue impacting Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices.

Please do not factory reset your device. If you previously performed a factory reset during troubleshooting, you may also be experiencing an issue where you're unable to re-setup your device. The team has identified the cause for this as well and is currently working on a fix.

We’re working to resolve this as soon as possible, and will keep you updated when there is more to share.

Same here yesterday my chromecast was working, and I have deleted installation and reinstall without any success

Same for me. Working yesterday morning and not now.  I've rebooted and now it doesn't even let me install it again.  

Same here, I have been using 4 chromecast audio devices for years, and this morning suddenly nothing worked anymore. What happened?

An intermediary SSL Certificate expired on you CC device.  Google needs to either renew that certificate and resign all CC SSL certificates with the new intermediary SSL Certificate or come up with another solution that would be quicker to deploy on those millions of devices.

Finns bara Google chromecast för 1399 kr på elgiganten 

J'ai le même problème également.

Tout marchait bien il y a 2 jours et malgré un réinitialisation, il n'arrive pas à authentifier mon appareil 

 

What’s really frustrating is the lack of any proper acknowledgement or holding message from Google. Seems to show contempt for a millions of loyal Chromecast and Google Home users. Been considering a move to Amazon infrastructure for a while, this may force my hand.

Io ho anche un Fire Stick Amazon e posso assicurare che è una bomba! Infatti sto pensando di dismettere il Chromecast e passare ad un altro Fire Stick Amazon 

So glad I found this community, ive been resetting my Chrome chromecast, phone and WiFi for the last 30 mins wondering what is going on! Clearly it's a google issue 🙄 

I feel your pain!  I wanted over 3 hours trying every fix I could think of to get my 14 (yes, 14!) devices working.

Wish I had come here first to learn it was nothing I could fix.

Woulda saved a lot of time and frustration.

All I can say is that they better get it fixed quick.

This is soooo not good.

Haha, I tried earlier today and nothing but didn't worry too much about it until just now. Glad it was on 30 or so minutes of getting angry at it

Same problem here in Singapore..tried all ways n feel like crying till i come here..so im not the only one.Google plssss fix these!!!

If you did factory reset, please see this article, it served me well, as I also did a factory reset. This only works to get the google chromecast show the google stock wallpapers, but we still have to wait for the issue to be solved. Where do I go to see the problem fix when there is one. I'm paying by the year for a streaming service I can only see through Chromecast.

Desde ayer en la noche, el Chromecast no me dejaba enviar nada, ni desde pc, ni desde móvil, lo he reiniciado de fabrica y ahora no es capaz " de autenticar el Chromecast" ya que no me salta la opción para aceptar o no el código que aparece en la pantalla, veo que es un problema global pero, ¿Se sabe algo?

Tenho o mesmo problema , parece ser generalizado
