Me too. Good to know it's a general error, hopefully they'll resolve it soon!

Yeah this is some BS. I'm having the same problem, day two. I saw in the news they are trying to work it out so fingers crossed.

I am from Brazil and have never experienced this issue. I've done everything they advise in the HELP section but it simply won't authenticate. It isn't good for Google if they're trying to increase sales of a new version of the Chromecast devices.. I would never buy a new one tho

I am from Indonesia, also have the same problem.
So it's a global error.
If its a firmware error, how to update the new firmware if it fixed since I cannot connect to the chromecast device from google home ?

See this solution from a reddit member:

This temporary solution seems to have worked for me, thanks for sharing 🙂

Have not used for a few days, would not work for me March 9th. Still not working. Seems like a Google issue. Just have to wait for them to fix this date authentification problem.

Same error in Netherlands since yesterday, looks like Google is trying to make even more money. They better fix this issue instead of destroying 100's of thousands of devices 😞

Since yesterday, many users with Chromecast devices reported an error when trying to configure the device in the Home app.
The error is authentication.
Something like this: ""Your Chromecast could not be authenticated. Go to support.google.com/chromecast for more help troubleshooting this issue."
It is a global problem for Google with Chromecast devices.
Error reports have been reported from several countries on 5 continents.
Probably due to a firmware error.
Let's hope they solve it soon.

Idem.... al my three chromecast-audio are out!  😡

Exactly th same.

No meaning to put on google home the autenthification pin code present by the chromecast aim to finish thé appariement.

Bonjour, depuis le 09/03/25 association chromecast impossible. Message chromecast non authentifié malgré toutes les manipulations possibles y compris réinitialisation d'usine

Google home finds chromecast- ID but cannot connect. No network suggestions during setup, only chromecast in the list of networks. Does not proceed to show an ID that is usually created during setup with Letter, number, Letter, Number that is usually shown when Google home connects Chromecast.

You've bricked hundreds of thousands of devices Certificate issues are almost impossible to solve without opening security holes.  Google will need to replace every device impacted at their cost.

Please make my Chromecast work

It is not connecting because it says Chromecast could not be verified and it is outdated

It's been well over a day now since all of my Chromecast connected TVs have stopped working. Tried the date rollback on my phone, but all TVs are still showing "offline" in the Google Home app. We need a fix now or an indication of how you intend to replace our devices Google...

I was able to reset the ChromeCast by setting the date back to Wednesday, March 5, 2025. Setup completed and the device is back online, but it still won't cast content from most of my apps.  Still broken, but not entirely a brick.
