I have already done the factory restart. Do we look on here for instructions?

Did the factory reset, as is the default repair response.

Then researched the problem and did the date rollback trick to get the Chromecast back online.  Now waiting for update to fix Chromecast.

Posted here to add to the crowd of affected people.

Last night I unplugged my 3 year old (Ithink) TV  chromecast as I needed to use the plug to charge a phone. Later I put the plug back in and tried to stream Netflix as normal. No luck. Ive uninstalled, reinstalled, reset, rebooted. No luck. Any suggestions ? Thanks.

Si, esperar a que Google tenga a bien revertir la actualización que ha hecho…

El problema no viene porque lo hayas desenchufado

I did a factory reset yesterday before you guys made any official statement - I was just following the general advice on your website. Hope this doesn't mean that my chromecast is now just a lost cause

J'espère ce sera résolu au plus vite, en plus j'ai réinitialisé  la chrome cast. Dommage on n'aurait dû avoir un message d'erreur clair. Merci de nous envoyer la procédure pour réinstaller.

Please, do you have an estimated date for the fix? It’s now over 24 hours waiting for it. Thanks

Stage 1 fix if you have factory reset. Set your date manually to March 6th. This enables you to set up your chromecast onto your home WiFi.

This doesn't fix the original issue with actually casting but at least it undoes the factory reset while Google fixes the main issue

Are you sure that will work as a temporary fix? Would it help if my Chromecast device could not access my Wi-Fi because the login passwords or the network were blocking it and the setup process was not getting past this? Was that because I reset the Chromecast to factory default settings? Thanks if this can be confirmed.

Me too! Is this actually current for March 11, 2025? How will you notify so I know where to find the fix?

Casting is working in my case after using the workaround described on :

https://www.androidauthority.com/how-to-fix-chromecast-authentication-errors-workarounds-3533849/

Activity manager app can be installed from Samsung Galaxy Store :

Please, Any idea of when this will be fixed? When is the next release cycle planned?

Are you doing this because you want us to throw away our chromecast and buy something new?
Don't you think that when we bought it we chose you and trusted you?
If it doesn't work anymore, not only will I never buy a device produced by you again and I will change completely but I will spread the word to everyone not to buy your products because they have an expiration date even if they are not broken.
This is real madness!
I can't watch any streaming service for which I pay a subscription since 4 days.
This is the right time for me to buy an Amazon Firestick and I say goodbye to you for real!
I'm so upset even beacuse I wasted hours and hours, entire days trying to figure out what was wrong, whether it was the chromecast, the router, or something else, doing resets of everything.

In half the world millions of Google Chromecast devices have stopped working. Yet it was an excellent device and worked precisely and flawlessly until March 9, 2025. So: Google staff, if you don't want to be hated, hurry up and fix the bug and publicize it.

If you have done the factory reset on your chromecast, you will not get it back online. However, if you are an Android-user, you can fool the system by altering the system date of your android device to the 8th of March. Follow the steps below.

1. Open the Home app

2. Now alter the system date of your android device

3. Add your chromecast as a new device in the Home app.

4. Walk through the installationprocedure, and your Chromecast will come back online.

You still can't cast anything, but now you are ready to receive the fix-update from Google. We just have to hope that Google solves the problem with security certificate soon.

Read my walkthrough a few posts earlier. But it works only for Android-users.

No, I did it on iOS using an iPhone 16

I've already factory reset my device and I now can't re-add it. Please provide a fix and instructions.

I did this too, I managed to re add it by changing the date on my phone to before march 9th and adding  it using the google home app. However streaming to the device is still not working
