I was also shopping for a new phone before my three Chromecast's went down and was going to buy the Pixel but am now not touching another google product.
03-12-2025 12:32 PM
Good choice, I had a pixel, broken buttons, within a month, replacment was the same. I went back to Samsung.

My guess is it will take at least a week. They have to fix all the software that can interface with the streaming devices whose certificates have expired. Google Nest, Google Home on Android, whatever support layer that is used by Spotify and other streaming apps, Chrome on Windows/iOs/Linux, Chromium, etc. And because they've scaled down support on these devices, they'll have to find staff who can remember what to do!
03-12-2025 02:01 AM
its a date FFS , how hard can it be
03-12-2025 08:51 AM
It's more than just changing a date
They will need to reissue a new certificate and push a device update to reestablish trust between the device and service
03-12-2025 04:56 PM
I doubt they'll do a new certificate, as that's apparently stuck on a read-only partition in the memory drive of each device. The guess of someone smarter than me is that they'll change the sender's software (eg Google Play Services, Youtube app, Chrome, etc) to ignore that particular certificate. They used to ignore expiry dates on certificates in this situation for years, until nine years ago, so that change has come around and bitten them in the bum!
03-12-2025 05:31 PM
That’s what I was also wondering … is it read only ? Or is it more like a CMOS ?
03-12-2025 06:31 PM
And how exactly can they do that if there's no trust now?
03-13-2025 05:56 PM
So, you'll have a fix out by tomorrow then?
03-11-2025 09:05 PM
Bluetooth dropping issues with the new pixel know two friends with it just dropping randomly connects and then drops. Stuck with Samsung and just got an s25 ultra.
03-12-2025 01:29 AM
imagine how they treat your data, cancel google drive
03-11-2025 01:51 PM
Never again
03-12-2025 09:32 AM
I got the message loud and clear, “don’t buy a hardware device from Google again”
03-11-2025 02:44 PM
03-11-2025 03:49 PM
They don't sell any more streaming devices. And this is problem for us, they stopped supporting.
03-11-2025 07:41 PM
To be honest I have the new one and I hate it I've broken the remote twice replaced remote twice and I still can't use it now because I refuse to buy another remote I love my second gen Chromecast I have not had any problems until this past week
03-12-2025 03:11 PM
Não consigo conectar
03-11-2025 08:12 PM
If they made a 2nd version with more features like Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth, and LDAC I would have already replaced the ones I have. But my experience has been with Google that many individuals in the Google ecosystem tend to go extinct.
03-11-2025 08:21 PM
For over 24 hrs had get the app on tv screen then all of a sudden tells me to unplug tv and plug back in. Then get the screen with code and now back to get the app
03-12-2025 12:45 AM
what new version? I'm using Chromecast audio on an old, but very good, stereo set. There is no new cc audio as far as I know 😞
03-12-2025 07:56 AM
newer one is £99
03-12-2025 08:29 AM
is there one?? last i checked they havent sold them in years lol
03-12-2025 08:44 AM
There is no updates version of Chromecast Audio
03-12-2025 08:45 AM
Magnificent hihi
03-12-2025 08:54 AM
They do, the first gen stopped being supported over the weekend. Mine was working just fine. They are planning to phase out all chrome casts. Because they want to do Google TV instead
03-12-2025 10:42 AM
I hope they don't get rid of them entirely. I use my old Chromecasts with discarded computer monitors to make electronic pictures frames.
03-13-2025 07:56 AM
some of us don't need google TV. We just want our music to cast to around the house. So tired of this. I miss my music being everywhere. Fie on google.
03-12-2025 09:24 AM
There is not a new Chromecast Audio. They discontinued them.
03-12-2025 09:30 AM
well they aren't Apple yet....
03-12-2025 10:51 AM
There is no new version of the Chromecast Audio.
03-12-2025 11:03 AM
Well it worked. I went out and bought a new ONN version of Google streamer for $20.
I was going to get a second one for the other Chromecast that died.... but I'll hold off on that purchase for now.
03-12-2025 02:18 PM
Well my Google home and mini stopped broadcasting and they're coming out with gemini stuff which is inferior so far. Ever since gemini, my regular google assistant has been bad on my Google speakers. What's with the transcoding of my Google broadcasts?
03-12-2025 02:28 PM
There is no new version, unfortunately. Google Home speakers are not an alternative to Chromecast Audio.
03-12-2025 04:15 PM
If there was one
03-12-2025 06:28 PM
Guess that's their trick, seriously, how long does it take a trillion dollar company to fix the problem? I'm paying for apps I can't use and I don't Have the money, time or resources to buy another type. They apologise they say! So what! Are they going to reimburse us for the time lost while they try to fix it?
03-12-2025 06:43 PM
03-13-2025 01:18 AM
What new version?
I am using a number of audio devices.
03-13-2025 04:13 AM
I hope not. Google never replaced the Chromecast audio and I'm sure as hell not going to buy a Sonos port... I love this thing
03-13-2025 07:44 AM
Yes, maybe you're right!
