Hey folks, 

If you previously performed a factory reset, we’re happy to report that the Google Home app update will reach all users today.

Please make sure you’re on version 3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio. Check out this help center article if you need help updating the Google Home app.

If you’re still experiencing problems during setup, please reach out to customer support for further assistance.

Hi folks,

Thank you for your patience as we worked to resolve the issue with Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices. As of today, this disruption has been fixed.

If you did not perform a factory reset, your device should now function normally. If it is still not functioning as intended check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.

For users who have performed a factory reset, you will need to update your Google Home app to the latest version (3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS) to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) or Chromecast Audio device again. The app roll out has begun and may take a few days to roll out to everyone. We’ll post a confirmation once the roll out to all users is complete.

We sincerely apologize for this disruption and any inconvenience it may have caused, and we are committed to ensuring all users are back up and running as quickly as possible.

Hi everyone,

Thank you again for your patience, we have some good news - the fix should reach all users today. If your device has received the update it should be on the following firmware versions:

Chromecast (2nd gen): Firmware version 1.56.467165

Chromecast Audio: Firmware version 1.56.467166

Check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.

Please note: If you performed a factory reset during the troubleshooting process, you may still be experiencing an issue where you cannot re-setup the device. The team is working diligently to resolve this, and we will provide next steps as soon as possible.

Hey everyone, thank you for your patience while we work to resolve this issue. Here’s the latest:

We have started to roll out a fix for the problem with Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices, which will be completed over the next few days. Your device must be connected to receive the update.

If you performed a factory reset during initial troubleshooting, you may still be experiencing an issue where you cannot re-setup your device. We are working to resolve this as soon as possible. Please continue to check the Community page here for updates and next steps.

An update on the situation: the team has identified the cause of the issue impacting Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices.

Please do not factory reset your device. If you previously performed a factory reset during troubleshooting, you may also be experiencing an issue where you're unable to re-setup your device. The team has identified the cause for this as well and is currently working on a fix.

We’re working to resolve this as soon as possible, and will keep you updated when there is more to share.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience, and appreciate your patience in the meantime.

C'è un problema generalizzato con i Chromecast e lo stanno sistemando, le indicazioni di Google sono di non resettare il device ma che provvederanno a dare le indicazioni per il ripristino anche per chi avesse resettato. Al momento non si sa ancora niente

Ya van casi 3 días sin funcionar los Chromecast, cuánto van a tarde en solucionarlo? Si querían que actualicemos a dispositivos mas nuevos hubiesen avisado con tiempo que los volverían obsoletos.

Buongiorno ho collegato chromcast alla televisione, procedo con l’app e al momento della connessione mi dice che è collegato e poi che si è verificato un errore perché nella privacy del mio telefono non ho attiva “ la rete locale” quando invece è fleggata. Mi potreste aiutare?

Ciao, anch'io come molti da domenica non riesco più a collegare il mio chromecast, prima di comprare uno nuovo vorrei aspettare per vedere se c'è una soluzione. 

Lo stesso anch'io, scoprire a posteriori che non bisognava fare reset ad impostazioni di fabbrica non è bello

The certification key that expired did not expire on earlier models. 

Unless you fix this problem very soon a lot of people are going to walk away from Google in any form certainly for casting people are going to buy a fire stick from your competitor.

Too late. Only way to view anything here is streaming through my Chromecasts around the house. I was going to upgrade them but not now. Tired of paying for the different platforms but being unable to watch anything... so just got in from buying Firesticks

iPhoneもAndroidからもですが、突然TVで動画などが見れなくなりました。  クロムキャストもWi-FiもiPhoneもアプリも全て全て正常です。再起動したり手を尽くしていますが 何故か信号がキャッチ出来ないとエラーが出て接続出来なくなりました。お手上げです。疲れてしまい どーする事もできません。🆘下さい!

何か障害が起きてるみたいですね。私も今週からいきなり見れなくなりました。初期化とかもしちゃったんですよね…見れるようになるのでしょうか。

I am trying to connect my Chromecast device, but I get the following message. What could it mean?

"Device authentication for your Chromecast was not successful'

I'm having the same problem with my chromecasts hurry up google and fix it 

Same problem.  Apparently Chromecast firmware included an expriation date of 9 March 2025.  Any fix out there?  Thanks.

This is not a fix for the streaming Issue. It is online suitable to reconnect to your WLAN in case you made a reset.

Hallo zusammen, 

seit dem letzten Wochenende funktioniert unser Cromecast nicht mehr.

Wir haben ein älteres Fernsehmodell und der Cromecast ist die einzige Möglichkeit bei uns zu streamen. Wir lange wird es denn dauern, bis Google das Problem behoben hat? Denn wir bezahlen ja derzeit monatlich Amazon Prime und Disney+ und können beides nicht nutzen.

du wirst hier keine ante bekommen. Google hält sich komplett bedeckt, weil sie genau wissen, was der Fehler ist und weil es immens schwer ist, da die meisten Nutzer ihr Gerät schon auf die Werkseinstellungen zurück gesetzt haben.  Davon wird jetzt aber ja abgeraten, obwohl auf der Hilfsseite ja nachwievor dies als erster Schritt empfohlen wird, wenn ein Problem besteht. Ein Nutzer auf Reddit, der sehr viel Zeit und Engagement in die Sache steckt und verschiedene Anleitungen zur Problembehebung gibt, schreibt als Zeitspanne auf jeden Fall von einer Woche. Alle findet man auf deutsch eigentlich gar keine Hilfe, schon gar nicht von Google 

verstell mal dein Datum in die Vergangenheit, also vor Sonntag und versuche ob Home dein Gerät erkennt. So ist es zumindest wieder in deinem Wlan und wird erkannt und gibt die Meldung wegen der Firmware an. Streamen geht aber trotzdem nicht. Das Gerät ist aber immerhin wieder "vorhanden". Datum wieder aktualisieren nicht vergessen

Mira TV may be set up, but we could not communicate with it from your iPhone. Make sure that you have enabled local network access in your iPhone’s privacy settings. Then try again.

Same here, I have removed it from home 😞 I thought it would be easily setup as usual.  I've been using it for many years.   But this time. I can't authenticate to set it up.  Let me know if you find any answers to fix it back up

It’s currently not working because a recent update or something

I'm sure I'm not the only one but after years of using the Chromecast dongle, the first we always do when it quits working is reset it to factory and it usually fixes it... so, to tell us not to do it 2 or 3 days after the fact, well, it's a waste of breath.  I've already started looking for replacements TV boxes... one's on the way and we will replace the other as soon as we that it works. This was a huge let down from Google.
