Thank you for your description about the problem of gen2 chromecast. I've already factory reset my device. How can I get the solution when it is identified?

03-11-2025 11:31 PM
03-12-2025 10:01 PM
I set my phone back to March 8th and then reset the chromecast again and it worked
03-12-2025 01:19 PM

Ok. This is enough! Google is more than aware of the problem and is taking this long to fix it? This is the certificate that ran over 10 years, In other words, expired. Why not going issue a new certificate and launch it in a firmware update? Why is taking so long? I bet Google is going to say: "buy a new device". Ridiculous, solve this problem you created
03-12-2025 03:53 PM
This a global issue. I just can't understand why Google has been SO SLOW to respond, fix or even provide regular updates.
03-12-2025 04:04 PM
Gente...mas não é possível!!! 😔
E a solução?!
03-12-2025 03:13 PM
Tchao 🖕🏾 😜

Jag behöver hjälp att koppla till Chromecast

Any closer to a fix? It’s been 4 days

Seems that some have found a way around (as long as you did not factory reset) using computer and chrome browser. Read it somewhere on https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Streaming/Regarding-an-issue-with-Chromecast-2nd-gen-and-Chro...

I’m seeing that your team was well aware of this issue as early as Monday, if not sooner, but customers only just were made aware of it recently. Speaking for myself, I only received an email from Google this morning - Weds 3/12/25. This was after wasting hours trying to resolve the issue Tuesday - following the troubleshooting instructions from Google which included recommending resetting the device to factory settings. Now you’re saying NOT to do that. So why does your troubleshooting page say the complete opposite? Now I’m stuck with a factory reset hockey puck that’s useless. Maybe own up to your mistakes and send customers a replacement?
03-12-2025 10:08 PM
How did they not see this issue coming?
wasn’t like the expiration date changed, this should have been figured long before the device just stopped working. At the very least they could have warned us.
Fishy this comes at a time when they are pushing new smart home devices which I’m assuming some people bought when this broke. I’m too stubborn to do that cause I feel like it’s what they planned all along

Hi,
I just came back home to see that I can't cast to my TV anymore. It was working this morning, but now, my phone says that the ChromeCast (old model) has an untrusted firmware? What is going on Google? Are dropping support again without warning?
03-09-2025 10:36 AM
Same happened to me mid cast
03-09-2025 10:37 AM
Same here.
03-09-2025 10:42 AM

03-09-2025 10:42 AM

03-09-2025 10:47 AM

03-09-2025 10:47 AM
Same problem here
03-09-2025 10:48 AM
I tried to connect Chromecast this morning but didn't work. Restart again still doesn't work. It said I have authentic problem. I reset my Chromecast and now is unable to add in. And have authentic problem again. Use my pixel 8 and reinstall my Google home. Same issue. I am a little disappointed about this issue as I buy so many generation fo Chromecast and use them since the Chromecast coming out.
