the only thing that frustrated me after my chromecast bricked is my ancient 2012 samsung tv would not connect to my router even after a factory reset lol. all my other tv's work in the house but this one was in the bedroom. i ended up switching to an old 1st gen chromecast and it still works. i love google products. everyone responding to this with a complaint or saying google is trash can gfy. thanks for the updates and letting everyone know you are aware of the situation and actively working to fix it!

I have done a factory reset well several of them so what do I do now?
03-13-2025 04:32 AM
知らずに、だいぶ前はリセットしたら直ったので出荷時設定にリセットをしてしまっています。
直ることをまっています。

Now, I'm using Amazon Fire TV Stick (Since Google doesn't care about your customers)... 💔
03-13-2025 04:37 AM
Do you have any estimated date to resume the conection on chromecast 2gr?
03-13-2025 04:37 AM
Why is that so difficult? I assume that pretty much all users have carried out a factory reset. This means that the device has its own WLAN, which is recognised by the Home app. It should be possible to install a new certificate via this connection.
I can also connect my Chromecast to my Wi-Fi if I reset the system time on my mobile phone. So Chromecast should be able to obtain a certificate.
Thousands of people can't listen to music right now. In my house I use Chromecast in all rooms, I find that really annoying right now. Please solve this problem, thanks 🙂

Ok, so I will purchase a new device for streaming today.
This has gone on long enough. Will bring google this device to their doorstep.
A claim would be in place for our money back.

I only got this message on one device. Not the other 2 connected that I was using. So I did factory reset as recommended on the support site.

What should I do next after I have factory reset the Chromecast? I can't setup the Chromecast in Google home now.
03-13-2025 04:42 AM
There's a workaround I've tried, which works, but it requires you to bypass the device authentication.
Does this not open up the possibility that your chromecast could become compromised?
If so, then does this also have the potential for a whole network of compromised chromecast devices, if everyone applies this workaround?
BTW I have now reverted the Bypass Device Auth setting to 'No'.
03-13-2025 04:44 AM
For a non nerd this is undoable right?
03-13-2025 04:53 AM
Do you have any advice how to do it? What's necessary to use?
03-13-2025 04:43 AM
Date your phone back to 8th march
03-13-2025 04:45 AM
Tried that - but it breaks a load of other apps.
03-15-2025 10:25 AM
Here it is fixed and all works again.

Found this gem. It allows me to mirror/cast to a single Audio device although it still shows offline, but no groups. I don't use for video.

Google Support hat mich gerade hier her verwiesen, weil das Problem angeblich gelöst sei und es hier die Hilfe für schon zurück gesetzte Chromecast gibt. Wer kann mir denn nun helfen? Anscheinend ist der direkte Support unfähig
