Good news. According to this Reddit post, Google has just started to roll out a firmware update to fix this.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Chromecast/comments/1jafq8x/comment/mhlbb3n/
The next headache for Google will be to convey to millions of users who've done a factory reset how to reconnect their Chromecast to wi-fi, so that they can actually receive the firmware update. It's a fairly straightforward procedure that involves temporarily changing your Android phone or iPhone's date/time setting to pre-3/9, but it will likely be a challenge for many non-tech-savvy users. If you've ever had to explain to your mom how to do basically anything on her phone, you know what I mean. Now multiply that times a million.

Buenas tardes fíjese que yo lo reinicie de fabrica no sé si habrá un problema ante eso ?
03-13-2025 11:08 AM
So Google is telling us "do not factory reset". But most us know that this is the first thing most people do to fix the issue. I mean how many people hasn't done the factory reset? I'm just curious

Any latest updates on this from Google?
03-13-2025 11:12 AM
Any updates on when this issue will be resolved and the hows and whats for a fix released?
Please hurry.

I can confirm that the fix is working. I have four Chromecast Audio devices. All were down on Sunday evening. Since the fix one of them has come back to life, now running software version 1.56.467166. The other three are still down but hopefully it’s only a matter of hours now before they get the new software too. Thanks for fixing it!
03-13-2025 11:10 AM
I have already reset my Chromecast. How can I get it back?
03-13-2025 11:21 AM
Me too reseted ;-(
03-13-2025 12:30 PM
Google will send a new one !!! , because they make automatic updates.
03-13-2025 11:12 AM
"Please do not factory reset your device" !
You're funny, the first thing when something doesn't work is a reset!
03-13-2025 11:21 AM
Exactly
03-13-2025 12:28 PM
yes, it is.🙈
03-13-2025 11:13 AM
You are a disaster! "Having a issue", really?? You're clearly doing this for making people purchase the newer versions, and not all of us can! You're supposed to be able to reach and work with all types of people from all backgrounds but you force everyone to act like we were rich.
03-13-2025 11:13 AM
Help us
03-13-2025 11:13 AM
Chromecast used to be ad-free on YouTube. Not anymore. 🙄
03-13-2025 11:14 AM
It would be nice if Google sent new devices to all their customers affected by this issue.
03-13-2025 11:14 AM
How long more time to fix the problem
03-13-2025 11:17 AM
Reading the comments is just hilarious 🤣🤣 you would think people are talking about a pacemaker!! And not a simple streaming dongle 🤣🤣 get a grip people, if the issue was simple to fix they would have done it already….
03-13-2025 12:31 PM
Amico il problema lo ha creato Google, ci sono milioni di persone che hanno comprato il dongle quindi vogliono il servizio, i pacemaker fortunatamente non li produce Google...
03-13-2025 11:17 AM
PUES LA VERDAD CUANTO TIEMPO MAS VOY A ESPERAR LA FALLE QUE ME PRESENTA ES QUE SE DESCONETCA AA CADA RATO DEL WIFI, Y NO ES NI EL MODEM NI EL INTERNET, YA QUE EL RESTO DE LOS DISPOSITIVOS FUNCIONAN PERFECTAMENTE BIEN Y TENGO DOS GOOGLE CHROME CAST DE ESTA GENERACION Y QUE SOLO ESOS DOS EQUIPO FALLAN POR LO MISMO, NO SALIERON TAN BARATOS COMO PARA ESTAR ASI Y MAS QUE INVERTI EN DOS EQUIPOS, NO SOLO UNO.
03-13-2025 11:18 AM
Please start manufacturing original-design (gen 2) Chromecasts again. Google Nest/Home/TVs with mandatory physical remote controls are a solution in search of a problem.
03-13-2025 11:17 AM
I have three chromecast dongles, which I factory reset all, one ended up working again. Two others did not work. Please post instructions how to set them back here. Thank you.

Losing use of my Google Audio Chromecasts reminds me of what great products they are. They are an essential part of my Google Smart Home setup, letting me cast music to my existing high quality speakers through voice commands to Google Assistant. I hope they come back to life.

Jesus,
How long can a multi billion company take to fix your own fault? it has been 4 days without your device working.
Grow the **bleep** up
03-13-2025 08:57 AM
I'm sure Jesus won't be able to help you. Also, your post must be the least mature one I've seen today, so there is clearly someone that needs to grow up. Not sure if it's Google 🙂
