Hey folks,
If you previously performed a factory reset, we’re happy to report that the Google Home app update will reach all users today.
Please make sure you’re on version 3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio. Check out this help center article if you need help updating the Google Home app.

Thank you for your patience as we worked to resolve the issue with Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices. As of today, this disruption has been fixed.
If you did not perform a factory reset, your device should now function normally. If it is still not functioning as intended check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.
For users who have performed a factory reset, you will need to update your Google Home app to the latest version (3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS) to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) or Chromecast Audio device again. The app roll out has begun and may take a few days to roll out to everyone. We’ll post a confirmation once the roll out to all users is complete.
We sincerely apologize for this disruption and any inconvenience it may have caused, and we are committed to ensuring all users are back up and running as quickly as possible.

Thank you again for your patience, we have some good news - the fix should reach all users today. If your device has received the update it should be on the following firmware versions:
Chromecast (2nd gen): Firmware version 1.56.467165
Chromecast Audio: Firmware version 1.56.467166
Check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.
Please note: If you performed a factory reset during the troubleshooting process, you may still be experiencing an issue where you cannot re-setup the device. The team is working diligently to resolve this, and we will provide next steps as soon as possible.

En tu móvil pon que la fecha actual es 6 de marzo de 2025. Eso bastará para que vuelvas a poder conectar tu Chromecast a tu red wifi. Y ya sólo tienes que esperar a que Google solucione el problema.

Si restablecieron el Chromecast, la solución es desactivar la fecha y hora automáticas y establecer una fecha anterior al 9 de marzo (día en que venció el certificado). De este modo, podrán conectar el Chromecast nuevamente a la red Wi-Fi. Sin embargo, no transmitirá contenido hasta que Google lance el parche.

Anch'io quando chhromcast ha smesso di funzionare ho resettato l'apparato riportandolo alla configurazione iniziale di fabbrica poi, quando é stata rilasciata la soluzione al problema, ho provato a mettere una data antecedente al giorno 8 marzo sul telefono e a riconfigurare chromcast, ma l'apparato non si connette comunque perché quando la procedura su Google Home cerca di connettere l'apparato alla rete WI-FI di casa non riesce ancora a comunicare con Chromecast. EMolto probabilmente servirà una modifica anche sull'app Google Home ...

Puedes cambiar la fecha del reloj manualmente e indicar una fecha anterior al 9/3/25 de ese modo conseguirás que funcione al menos con alguna plataforma. A mi me funciona con Max y con Amazon prime sigue fallando netflix y Movistar

I believe you will need to power them on and connect to the Internet through Wi-Fi as well. They should update on their own once connected assuming audio devices connect similarly to how the Chromecast does. If you factory reset them when you took them out of service then other steps will be needed to allow them to get the update.

If you wait long enough after the fix is released (check the top side of the thread with the latest info for when would this happen), then when you’ll plug it in next time, you’ll see a software update waiting to be installed. The approach is the same as it was in the past for new software update releases. Once the new update is installed, you’ll never experience the issue in this thread.

step 1: manually set your smart phone date to Mar 8 (exactly Mar 8, other days won't work). step 2: connect Chromcast, on your phone open Google Home app, add device to go through setup process. the final stage, Chromcast will update (do not try the casting demo, wont' work)
step 3: go back to smart phone set the date & time to automatic (correct current date) basically, you only need to change the date back (to Mar 😎 & forth (to current) for it to work.

Se por acaso fizeram a restauração de fabrica no seu Chromecast, achando que iria resolver o problema, não precisa se desesperar, vai nas configurações do dispositivo onde está instalado o app do home e muda a data para o dia 08/03/25 essa data foi antes do bug geral do Chromecast, eu estou sugerindo fazer isso pq eu também fiz a restauração de fabrica, e não estava conseguindo configurar novamente devido ao bug mundial, porém quando coloquei essa data consegui configurar e ficar aguardando atualização do Google para voltar a usar.

Tenta usar qualquer celular Android. Faz o procedimento depois desinstala o app e atualiza a hora do celular. Usei um tablet Samsung

apenas entre nas configurações do celular e pesquise “Data e Hora” daí você desativa a opção “Automaticamente” e pronto, agora é clicar na data e alterar o dia, sendo antes do dia 8, depois é só configurar o Chromecast, assim que terminar você pode voltar nas Configurações e ativar novamente a data e hora com a opção Automaticamente!

De tu dispositivo Android. Solo pontas rl dia 08. Desativa lá coneccion del ⌚ con tu rede e pingas manualmente. Perdon pelo mal espanol

Ramia, you should change the date manually on the phone. Then from that phone you connect to the chromecast and follow the procedure.

Grazie Condor , ho cambiato data su smartphone Android, 8 marzo 25 . Con App Home Google ha riconosciuto Chromecast, ho dovuto inserire password WiFi . collegamento OK . Successivamente ho dovuto riportare a data odierna il cell. poiche' mi creava problemi con siti internet . Grazie comunque .

Haz la prueba de cambiar la fecha en tu teléfono manualmente a marzo 8 2025 (anterior a la fecha del problema) y desde la app de Home adiciona dispositivo, cuando te pida clave del wifi procura ingresarla manualmente y a todas las demas preguntas responde "no por ahora", y asi logre que el chromecast se conecte a Internet, ya se ve el reloj con hora actualizada por tanto tiene conexión, ya transmitir videos si no se puede hasta que no llegue el parche de corrección de parte de Google, pero por lo menos ya esta en línea para recibirlo.
