Hey folks,
If you previously performed a factory reset, we’re happy to report that the Google Home app update will reach all users today.
Please make sure you’re on version 3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio. Check out this help center article if you need help updating the Google Home app.

Thank you for your patience as we worked to resolve the issue with Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices. As of today, this disruption has been fixed.
If you did not perform a factory reset, your device should now function normally. If it is still not functioning as intended check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.
For users who have performed a factory reset, you will need to update your Google Home app to the latest version (3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS) to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) or Chromecast Audio device again. The app roll out has begun and may take a few days to roll out to everyone. We’ll post a confirmation once the roll out to all users is complete.
We sincerely apologize for this disruption and any inconvenience it may have caused, and we are committed to ensuring all users are back up and running as quickly as possible.

Thank you again for your patience, we have some good news - the fix should reach all users today. If your device has received the update it should be on the following firmware versions:
Chromecast (2nd gen): Firmware version 1.56.467165
Chromecast Audio: Firmware version 1.56.467166
Check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.
Please note: If you performed a factory reset during the troubleshooting process, you may still be experiencing an issue where you cannot re-setup the device. The team is working diligently to resolve this, and we will provide next steps as soon as possible.

Since this issue, my Chromecast Audio is saying it's no longer on my WiFi network in my home app. Will it still get the update that's rolling out? It's not been factory reset.

Juste pour vous informer que des utilisateurs ont trouver un moyen simple de faire en sorte que la chromecast soit de nouveau connecté au réseau comme si elle n'avait pas eu de Factory reset ou tout simplement en changeant la date de nos appareils et demandant de reconnecter avec celle-ci. Cependant, cela ne fonctionne toujours pas pour caster. Quand la mise à jour sera mise en place sur nos appareils s'il vous plaît ?

Spero che si risolva davvero presto. Ho perso così tanto tempo lunedì e martedì. Inoltre ho fatto il ripristino dei dati di fabbrica almeno 2 o 3 volte, se avessi saputo che non andava fatto e che era un problema di Google mi sarei risparmiata anche tanta ansia. Grazie per l'aiuto e per tenere aggiornati gli utenti sulla soluzione.

Ho cambiato la data dell'iphone impostando il 7 marzo poi ho eseguito la procedura di configurazione del Chromcast ed è andato tutto a buon fine. Al momento il dispositivo trasmette al tv foto generiche in modalità ambient, credo che lasciandolo acceso e connesso sia in grado di ricevere in automatico il sospirato aggiornamento da Google team

Are there any map for the fix rollout? is it country by country? I guess the Home app is where the update is pushed? Mine is now offline for playing, but it is connected to the wifi.

If you did a factory reset, simply change your phone/tablet date manually to March 7 and follow the regular setup procedure. The issue seems to be with a certificate that expired on March 9.
Change back your date configuration to auto once the chromecast configuration has completed.

If you push back the date on the device your useing to install the chromcast to a date before 9/3 you will be able to install it and get it to connect to wifi.

I've tried that a few times but it still can't find my Chromecast when I try to add it.
I've cleared the cache on the Home app too - not sure whether to clear the Data too as I don't want to find out that doing that removes everything from Home & I have to set up dozens of devices again!

I'd factory reset my device, but managed to set it up again by setting the date on my tablet to before 09 March, it then set up fine and connected back to the network. Now just waiting for the streaming fix roll out.

We are getting closer to 1 week of outage now. Please @GoogleNestTeam, provide with a prompt and effective solution for factory resetted cases.
Consider that factory reset is one of the actions typically recommended, as part of a troubleshooting step-by-step process. (And in fact, many folks posted that this was especifically recommended by googles support services during the initial hours/days from the incident).
