Hey folks, 

If you previously performed a factory reset, we’re happy to report that the Google Home app update will reach all users today.

Please make sure you’re on version 3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio. Check out this help center article if you need help updating the Google Home app.

If you’re still experiencing problems during setup, please reach out to customer support for further assistance.

Hi folks,

Thank you for your patience as we worked to resolve the issue with Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices. As of today, this disruption has been fixed.

If you did not perform a factory reset, your device should now function normally. If it is still not functioning as intended check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.

For users who have performed a factory reset, you will need to update your Google Home app to the latest version (3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS) to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) or Chromecast Audio device again. The app roll out has begun and may take a few days to roll out to everyone. We’ll post a confirmation once the roll out to all users is complete.

We sincerely apologize for this disruption and any inconvenience it may have caused, and we are committed to ensuring all users are back up and running as quickly as possible.

Hi everyone,

Thank you again for your patience, we have some good news - the fix should reach all users today. If your device has received the update it should be on the following firmware versions:

Chromecast (2nd gen): Firmware version 1.56.467165

Chromecast Audio: Firmware version 1.56.467166

Check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.

Please note: If you performed a factory reset during the troubleshooting process, you may still be experiencing an issue where you cannot re-setup the device. The team is working diligently to resolve this, and we will provide next steps as soon as possible.

We have started to roll out a fix for the problem with Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices, which will be completed over the next few days. Your device must be connected to receive the update.

If you performed a factory reset during initial troubleshooting, you may still be experiencing an issue where you cannot re-setup your device. We are working to resolve this as soon as possible. Please continue to check the Community page here for updates and next steps.

An update on the situation: the team has identified the cause of the issue impacting Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices.

Please do not factory reset your device. If you previously performed a factory reset during troubleshooting, you may also be experiencing an issue where you're unable to re-setup your device. The team has identified the cause for this as well and is currently working on a fix.

We’re working to resolve this as soon as possible, and will keep you updated when there is more to share.

He logrado enviar contenido al chromecast a pesar de haber reestablecido valores de fabrica. Primero configuré el móvil al día 7 de marzo. Con eso logré emparejar el Google home con el chromecast. Acabo d e bajarme la actualización de Google home y con screen mirroring ya puedo ver Netflix, máx y YouTube. Una semana después... 

We have two devices in our house affected. One is now back online, thank

you. The device that I factory reset is unfortunately still not back online.

It is a eye opener to find out how much control Google has over our lives ☹️☠️

Still no update on how to fix a device reset because that's what your trouble shooting said to do!  Time to tell us what you are doing and when this will be fixed.  Or decide you will replace devices you have broken. 

Any update yet?

Any explanation on what actually happened, what the potential impact was and how it’s being resolved?

Please, let us know how to solve the issue after I reset it ...

Tenes que poner el aparato que queres transmitir tu celular o iPad o lo que sea con la fecha del sábado pasado o viernes... ahi te deja actualizarlo... después cuando termine volves a la hora y fecha actual y listo.

please work faster to fix this. mines been broken for about 2 weeks now. I haven’t been able to use it at all this week and I’ve been at home really sick. really disappointed. I’m sure a lot of people have factory reset their devices because of this issue so we need a fast fix.

Hoe about the first gen. It no longer connects either all of a sudden.

I did factory reset my device before finding out it was a major issue. You can just change the date on your phone in the settings (i changed to feb. 13) and connect chromecast again. After that you can go back to the auto date thing. Hope that helps someone.

I would love to be able to use my device this weekend. It would also be nice of you to push another email out when the problem is resolved for those of us who followed directions the first time and did a factory reset. 

I factory reset my Chromecast while trying to resolve the casting issue on Sunday, March 9th. Days later I read NOT TO FACTORY RESET the chromecast. So now that I'm reading the issue has been resolved for some, and NOT for those like myself I wondering how long will this persist? How long and when and how will I be notified that a Chromecast 2nd gen fix is available for those who Factory Reset their device?

My 4 affected Chromecast devices are now all properly working! (I have 1 that was unaffected and still functioning normally.) I had to power on the TVs, to get the update. I actually watched it download and install, onscreen, on a couple of them. Even the 1 I'd factory reset updated without a problem. It did not initially appear in the Google Home app, but eventually did, and I was able to assign it to a room, and rename it. Thanks for the relatively speedy turnaround on the fix. I appreciate it!

Hi. If you manually set your remote device, i.e. phone to a date before March 9th, the update will start and fix the problem.

This worked for me after did a factory reset. : set the date on the device/phone before d. 9 March and configure the chromecast again, (and then remember to correct the date to d.d on the phone afterwards), then the chromecast should be able to update!
