It is working now. Thank you very much.

Isso ai é  comprar um novo, certeza. #fod@

This is unfortunate. If you already factory reset it, just manually change the date on your phone before March 9th and you'll be able to set it up in the app. You won't be able to cast until the issue is resolved but it'll save you time. Credit to Reddit for showing me this (forgot the username).

My Chromecast just updated but it still doesn't work.

I have factory reset one of my Chromecast devices and I am not able to connect to a second one.

Please keep me updated on the status of a fix and steps to resolve my other device.

THANK YOU SO, SO MUCH FOR FIXING CHROMECAST AUDIO!!

As of March 14th 6:30pm pacific time, my chromecast is now working perfectly.

Estou esperando obrigada

My Gen 2 started working Friday evening, and yes I did do the factory reset, and had previously tried everything! Restarted Chromecast tonight and it worked!

My Chromecast is still not working. I had factory reset the device before this email was received by me. May i please know the next step as this is preventing me to cast anything on big tv.

I now have the device connect to my local wifi using the trick setting my smartphone (ISO) to a date befor 7th March 2025. This updateded the device and gave the settings are as follws -

Cast Firmware 1.56.467165

I have tried to reboot using the "Google Home" App that is meant to trigger a firmware update. The current firmware version for Chromecast Gen 2 is 1.56.275994, which includes bug fixes.

My device is not being updated after rebooting.

Is there another way to request an update through the "Google Home" app to get the current Firmware?

Thank you Google Team!

Are there any updates?

Gracias!

No detecta el wifi

Will you guys send an email notification about?

Thank you!

It’s almost been a week, I hope the issue gets resolved soon. Please fix this problem I’m so bored lol

I've been trying every evening since the above answer about the update and one at least is finally updated and working again. Thank you team 🙏🏻.

To anyone who had run a reset, I had too but put my phone date back to 5th march to set up again to the point of the Chromecast device being active again, and then put my phone to the correct date. It allows for the Chromecast to be active to accept the update. Hope that helps anyone.

When is this problem going to be solved???

I performed a factory reset cause most of the times that's what solves the problem... Now you're telling us we didn't have to do it??? Solve it!

It WORKED!

I had factory rest both of my chromecasts...

so what I did today... was i set the date on my phone to February 25th 2025. Then I connected my chromecasts to power, an my tv's hdmi port. Went to Google Home on my phone, and processed to setup the chromecast device. It went ghru some setups, and reboots... then I was able to name it, and try and link it with google account (it failed) itvtried to link other to other services like audo, and video... they all failed.  Then it showed me an image as a wallpaper... at this point i set the date on my phone back to being managed by my cell provider. Shut down the Google Home App, and restarted it. Now my chromcasts show up! And im able to cast to them!
