If you previously performed a factory reset, we’re happy to report that the Google Home app update will reach all users today.
Please make sure you’re on version 3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio. Check out this help center article if you need help updating the Google Home app.
If you’re still experiencing problems during setup, please reach out to customer support for further assistance.

Thank you for your patience as we worked to resolve the issue with Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices. As of today, this disruption has been fixed.
If you did not perform a factory reset, your device should now function normally. If it is still not functioning as intended check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.
For users who have performed a factory reset, you will need to update your Google Home app to the latest version (3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS) to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) or Chromecast Audio device again. The app roll out has begun and may take a few days to roll out to everyone. We’ll post a confirmation once the roll out to all users is complete.
We sincerely apologize for this disruption and any inconvenience it may have caused, and we are committed to ensuring all users are back up and running as quickly as possible.

Thank you again for your patience, we have some good news - the fix should reach all users today. If your device has received the update it should be on the following firmware versions:
Chromecast (2nd gen): Firmware version 1.56.467165
Chromecast Audio: Firmware version 1.56.467166
Check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.
Please note: If you performed a factory reset during the troubleshooting process, you may still be experiencing an issue where you cannot re-setup the device. The team is working diligently to resolve this, and we will provide next steps as soon as possible.

I had reset the chromecast to factory settings. Google Home could no longer find the chromecast. I set my phone to March 8. Then added the chromecast again with Home. The chromecast automatically updated. After the update everything works properly again : ) Set the phone back to the current date

Since yesterday my chromecast, I believe 4th generation, suddenly did not connect to my internet. After factory reset and several tries it connected but on Google Home it keeps trying signing in to chromescast to my google account.
We have another one in the bedroom but 2nd generation and it cannot connect to internet.

Why is it taking so long to get these issues fixed. I can't help but wonder if Googles new tv streamer ($99!) am seeing Google promoting has anything to do with 1,000 of us who owns a Chromecast device and never had any problems with still can't stream . It's been around a week now that mine stopped working and the only message I see states that they are working on it. So how many of you that are waiting have decided to just go out and buy a new device? If I do go buy a new device it sure won't be anything Google! Google, you're a big disappointment! 🥴

For two days my Chromecast gen 3 has decided it no longer can be found. Getting to recognise it in the google home app on my iPad but cannot connect to it. It has been working just fine all this time, nothing has changed, but I just cannot connect. I have followed the help instructions several times, rebooted, reloaded, reset, but still no luck. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I had reset the chromecast to factory settings. Google Home could no longer find the chromecast. I set my phone to March 8. Then added the chromecast again with Home. The chromecast automatically updated. After the update everything works properly again : ) Set the phone back to the current date

Hello, I'm trying to reconnect my LG wk7 google home speaker, (I should point out that 5 minutes ago, I did a factory reset of the LG speaker). When I launch google home, it recognizes the LG speaker, then the sound is heard in the speaker, then the wifi connection is established, then the speaker lights turn off while the configuration process in google home is not finished, it is at the stage of choosing services, youtube..., then at the time of finalization, there is an error message that tells me that the finalization has failed.

Everything back to work here. 4 Audios have been updated. Now checking for the other two that haven't been online for a longer time.
Btw, whenever you decide to to reintroduce the Chromecast Audio, I'm sure demand will be high.

Hello my chromecast is now working!
Try changing the date of your phone into March 1, 2025 then set up the chromecast in your google home app like you normally do. After you set it up change it back to the right date and time.

Ik had de chromecast gereset naar fabrieksinstellingen. Google Home vond de chromecast niet meer.
Heb mijn telefoon naar 8 maart gezet. Vervolgens met Home de chromecast weer toegevoegd. De chromecast ging daardoor automatisch updaten. Na de update werkt alles weer naar behoren : )
Telefoon weer teruggezet naar de huidige datum

Ciao Arma11, io pure avevo resettato, ma ieri sera ho seguito le info su questo form: dissocia Chromecast, setta il cell al 7 marzo, ricollega Chromecast, non vedrai nulla, ma riporta il cell alla data odierna, e vedrai che si collega.

There is no update or fix yet for widely used Device, which determines google do not have efficient team to fix this. Also, no roll back is working. Google is once again proving that it releases unnecessary updates to their devices when they are already working good.

Fair play, really thought that was it for my 6 Chrome audios. Some kudos to be given to Google for supporting a £30 device that was end of life 6 years ago and stand to make nothing from it. Even though it took a while and has uncovered a wider issue for other products that can now be updated without a break in continuity. Fair play 👍

Updated last night and...it worked. Once! I wanted to give this device to a friend who did reset it. So to install at her home, we have to reset the new updated chromecast to find her wifi. After the new firmware it conected (it says) but does not stream...
