Every thing is now ok. I made reset on my Chromecast before I new about this problem. I set my phone to earlier date 03.03.2025 and made contact with Chromecast and could make set up as normal and after that brought back phone date as normal. I let tv and cc stay on and after about 4 hours the update were installed.

I had reset the chromecast to factory settings. Google Home could no longer find the chromecast. I set my phone to March 8. Then added the chromecast again with Home. The chromecast automatically updated. After the update everything works properly again : ) Set the phone back to the current date

I am able to cast it today in my TV. Thx for fixing it urgently. It was a great relief for many of our friends who bought Google Chromecast 8-10yrs ago. Other we would have to buy 99£ Google TV set up box.

A week later and still no resolution from google. Was promised a call back from google, not holding my breath.
03-15-2025 02:07 AM
I made a factory reset, because this is normally the first solution the support team is asking for. And I didn’t know, the problem is Google itself.
So right now I have a useless device, because adding to the wifi network isn’t possible anymore and so I can’t finish the installation process and upgrade the firmware. Please offer the solution.

Solved: if you have already done factory reset.
I was able to update latest firmware by changing mobile date time prior to Mar 9 and tried to setup again using Home app from mobile. It was able to identify latest update and installed automatically

Probleem oplossen !
* zet de datum op het apparaat waarop je Google-Home-app teruggaat naar 1 maart
*ga vervolgens naar de Google-Home-app
* zoek en verbind je chromecast
* zet datum van je apparaat terug naar huidige datum
PROBLEEM OPGELOST.

Fixed mine this morning after following the reset steps posted by others here. Set my phone to 4th March and then added again in Home app.
03-15-2025 02:30 AM
There is a solution!!
When I set up the Chromecast device from another mobile device or tablet and changed the date back to March 9th, the Chromecast restarted successfully and updated correctly. After returning to the actual date, everything is working perfectly.
03-15-2025 02:30 AM
But you came up with the warning not to reset to factory settings first the day after the expiry of the certificates - how do you assist those of us, who intentionally made the reset in an attempt to correct the problem?
03-15-2025 02:33 AM
Set your mobile date to 1 march, start the Google Home app and add it ti your wifi again. Then it should get the new update.

I tried this, it brought me further along (i actually got to the point where it gave me the code and things were looking good), but just at the last point, it still will not connect to chromecast...
