There is a known fix to recover from a factory reset, and it's ridiculous that Google hasn't pinned that information to the top of this page. 90% of the people posting here are saying "I've done a factory reset, now what can I do?" or " any update on a fix for people who have done a factory reset??".
In the meantime, I've been posting the solution everywhere I can to help those affected:

Hi, it appears a message showing, cannot authenticate my chromecast 2 generation
03-15-2025 06:47 AM
That happened me yesterday, leave it connected until the update rolls on your device, it could be hours. I recover the signal and yesterday I was able to cast, but now I can't even the screen casting through Home app. I'm not going to do a factory reset just in case.

1. Just set your mobile date back to 8th March or before manually.
2. Open Google Home app
3. Configure device
Wait until it will configure and update firmware...
4. Once device setup done, change your mobile date back to auto option.
All set.
