Just change the date on the phone which is used to configure the Chromecast at the 3nd of march. It will work.

They won't. Change your smartphone date to March 8, do a factory reset and you will receive the update that fix the problem.

Go back your date to today. Make another factory reset and your chromecast will work again.

It still doesn't work

When there be an update? My Chromecast is still not working. I’m not sure if I reset. It was switched off. And when switched back on it went through all of the setup via google home. Until the final step where it thought my phone might not be connected to the network. With link to pricey settings.

Plz help device not conect I'm already rest device and not setup

Porazni ste

I have 2 Chromecast devices. On one of them I tried troubleshooting and did factory reset.

Still, neither of my devices are working.  I am still getting the "We couldn't authenticate your Chromecast" message on the home app.

I absolutely did a factory reboot as this is the last of the steps one does without having this email I'd receivedquite late. Please provide next steps ASAP

If you reset your device it is enough to set your date to 7 March. It worked for me

Gosh you fixed it! What an undertaking,so many Chromecasts all over the world.

Anyway,  thanks from Australia

Device updated and now working again

Tks for your effort

Need help

My Chromcast, 2nd generation has started working. I switched ON today morning, it loaded rectified software, and it started streaming. If u have reset yr device, change date in fone prior to 9 Mar, 2025 and u will b able to set it through Google Home, then keep current date and switch ON, it will load rectified software

Hi,

chromecast dont work . Please help.

So i've reset it unfortunately what i could do ??

I did you Factory reset.

Because i Haven knew internet provider so i have to re install the Google mini home since My Google mini homes don't have any internet available for the time .

What should i do!

I found the solution for those who have reset their device. Simply change the date of the device you are using to try to configure your Chromecast. Go to the settings of your device (phone, tablet or other) then manually configure a date before the bug. For example, March 8, 2025. You can then connect to your Chromecast and configure it. Your Chromecast will download the new update. 😉

Any update on the factory reset fix?

I spoke with someone a short time ago told that they are still working on the firmware and to leave my 2nd gen chromecast plugged in and not factory reset. Who know how’s long it will take? It’s so frustrating

Luego puedes conectarte a tu Chromecast y configurarlo. Su Chromecast descargará la nueva actualización. 😉

Is this resolved?

It has been almost a week, Google is performance in f*cking stoneage speed. Not very impressed at all.

Any update on this mine is still not working? Would you recommend going and buying Apple TV in the meantime?

Hi, any updates for us who have factory reset?

It has worked only one day (friday evening  ,france) , right now it doesn’t work again. What a shame!

O que eu faço pra configurar o dispositivo

For the future: If you stop support cromecast 2 gen PLEASE say that in advance.
But you trying to fix it now that means you support gen 2 for now. Right?

Solution if you reset your device.

Set your phone date back before 7 mar 2025.

Open the Home app and configure the Chromecast.

The Chromecast will connect to wifi and update.

Set your phone date to auto again.

Test if it works, if not, then give it more time to update and try again.

As a user mentioned yesterday, set the date of your cellphone/tablet to a date before March 7th and try to setup your Chromecast via Google Home after factory reset. This worked for me.
