Hey folks, 

If you previously performed a factory reset, we’re happy to report that the Google Home app update will reach all users today.

Please make sure you’re on version 3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio. Check out this help center article if you need help updating the Google Home app.

If you’re still experiencing problems during setup, please reach out to customer support for further assistance.

Hi folks,

Thank you for your patience as we worked to resolve the issue with Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices. As of today, this disruption has been fixed.

If you did not perform a factory reset, your device should now function normally. If it is still not functioning as intended check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.

For users who have performed a factory reset, you will need to update your Google Home app to the latest version (3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS) to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) or Chromecast Audio device again. The app roll out has begun and may take a few days to roll out to everyone. We’ll post a confirmation once the roll out to all users is complete.

We sincerely apologize for this disruption and any inconvenience it may have caused, and we are committed to ensuring all users are back up and running as quickly as possible.

Hi everyone,

Thank you again for your patience, we have some good news - the fix should reach all users today. If your device has received the update it should be on the following firmware versions:

Chromecast (2nd gen): Firmware version 1.56.467165

Chromecast Audio: Firmware version 1.56.467166

Check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.

Please note: If you performed a factory reset during the troubleshooting process, you may still be experiencing an issue where you cannot re-setup the device. The team is working diligently to resolve this, and we will provide next steps as soon as possible.

We have started to roll out a fix for the problem with Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices, which will be completed over the next few days. Your device must be connected to receive the update.

If you performed a factory reset during initial troubleshooting, you may still be experiencing an issue where you cannot re-setup your device. We are working to resolve this as soon as possible. Please continue to check the Community page here for updates and next steps.

An update on the situation: the team has identified the cause of the issue impacting Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices.

Please do not factory reset your device. If you previously performed a factory reset during troubleshooting, you may also be experiencing an issue where you're unable to re-setup your device. The team has identified the cause for this as well and is currently working on a fix.

We’re working to resolve this as soon as possible, and will keep you updated when there is more to share.

Please can you update on a daily basis. How long are we going to have to wait for a fix for this issue?  I'm missing my music. Thanks

When can we expect the resolution still its not working it's so many days ofcourse we will perform factory reset as there was no message earlier when it was of 

I suspect they're going to take the easiest way out: pull the plug on all of these devices.

As long as they give my money back...

Segue a dica que consegui no fórum... 

 

1- Altere a data do teu smartphone para 07/03 

2- Reinicie seu Chromecast, apertando o botão ao lado do aparelho

3- Abra o App Google Home e faça a instalação de um novo dispositivo Chromecast 

 

Após isso o Chromecast vai atualizar e só seguir as informações na tela do celular. 

 

Espero ter ajudado, deu certo aqui. 

 

Still not able to connect

Eu acabei redefinindo de fábrica o meu, e até o momento não consegui conectar 

My Chromecast needs to be set up so it can connect to my wifi. Device Utility doesn't work on my Pixel 8 phone. Any workaround for this?

Manually changing the date of your pixel 8 (to march 7th) before retrying the setup with Google home is a working solution 

Quem tem iPhone ou iPad e restou o aparelho, consegue conectar ele na internet, basta voltar a data para dia 8 de março por exemplo. E adicionar ao Google home, com isso ele vai baixar a atualização e voltar a funcionar.

Precisamos  da correção com urgência 

Reiniciei em configurações de fábrica e não está validando, vem mensagem para contatar o suporte 💔😖🥹💐🙏🏻🙌🏻🤞🏻

I did do a factory reset on my generation 2 chromecast before I found out about the problems please advise what action I should take to resolve the problem

Its been a week now and I still can't use my chromecast. 

A bit disappointing that you didn't tell people not to factory reset as soon as it happened and not days later, when all the help articles say to do so.

I did factory reset prior and mine is still not working 

I was able to get my Chromecast Audio device back operational by using a USB Ethernet adapter instead of a wifi setup. I had the issue and attempted a factory reset which caused me to be locked out of initializing my device again. The Ethernet adapter allows bypassing the WiFi authentication issue. I used the TVxStream USB Ethernet adapter on the Chromecast Audio to do this.

No consigo reactivar mi Chromecast gen2, el cual fue reseteado de fábrica.  Este equipo yo lo compré en otro país y lo estuve utilizando de forma normal desde el 2014, pero desde el 09marzo el error que me sale es: 'ESTE EQUIPO FUE DISEÑADO PARA OTRO PAIS, ES POSIBLE QUE NO PUEDA ACTIVARLO' ...

Yes, change date in mobile where you have Google home app and do the initial setup process.

Note: Date should be before Mar 8th
