Sounds like you did a factory reset. If so, then you need to do this procedure:

Ok that worked for the one I factory reset but the others still aren't working. Should I do the same to them?

avevo ripristinato a livello do fabbrica il chromecast 2. Poi come qualche gentile collega ha suggerito ho cambiato la data sullo smartphone (impostato 14/2) riprovato a fare collegamento, ha fatto l'aggiornamento ed è ripartito. Grazie a tutti. CIAO

Ciao Renato, avevo rimosso il dispositivo dall'app come tentativo prima di sapere del problema generalizzato. Ora avendo letto ho aggiornato Google home ma continua a non rilevare il Chromecast, tu sapresti dirmi come fare? Grazie

My Chromecast just got updated today. I noticed that it’s updated by itself and is now working again after the update was completed. It rebooted after the update and is now 100% working. Hopefully, Google will not make any mistakes again or maybe send a communication first before doing anything. It worries me as I thought the problem was our TV, but it turned out the Google Chromecast firmware was the issue. Nevertheless, it’s now fixed and working.

What do we do when we did the factory reset?

Yeah good question

I followed Google's trouble shooting guide when both of my Chromecasts stopped working.  So guess what I did,  A Factory Reset as advised by Google.  Now I receive an email from google pointing to me here, where they tell  me NOT to do a Factory Reset, a bit late perhaps.  It would be nice of them to acknowledge that a lot of users will have done a factory reset already upon their advice, but clearly any admission of fault is beyond them.

If you've already done a factory reset, it's not the end of the world like Google makes it sound. Just do this:

For all the factory reset people who are freaking out and asking "what do I do now?", this procedure will allow you to reconnect your Chromecast to your Wi-Fi network, so that it can receive the firmware update fix that Google started pushing out on 3/13.

1) Temporarily set the date on your smartphone (or tablet) to March 8 or earlier.

2) Use the Google Home app to re-setup your Chromecast. You still won't be able to cast, and the device will be grayed out in the Home app, but that's ok. Also, you can change your phone's date/time setting back to Auto now.

3) Sit back and wait for the firmware update from Google to be installed. This should restore your Chromecast to full functionality.

Deu certo! Obrigada. Genial

ça fonctionne!! merci beaucoup !

How many more days will you require to do or generate a solution for that problem?

If you change the date on your phone to two weeks ago it will allow you to update it. Once updates change your date in your phone back to today’s date. Worked for me 👍

How do you change date? It is set automatically.

Worked here for a factory reseted chromecast. Thank you!

Thank you so much! I’ve been trying for days to get my stuff to hook back up with my account after I did a factory reset on both my chromecasts.  I still can’t stream but this definitely helped set it back up! You are awesome and appreciated 🙏🏽

It’s not possible to change date and time on iPhone. Can we?

Yes, under general setting go to date and time and switch from automatic.

then you can set the date.

Worked for me !

Vamos! Why didn't Google inform about this fix right away...well I'm glad you did 👍🏼

Thank you so much! You are a legend!

i exactly did this and it works great for me. from Pakistan
