The Google troubleshoot site still recommends a factory reset...

So unbelievably annoying that I've trusted the Google support docs

Yo tambien

Change your date in your phone to before the issue began. It allows you to update. Once back updated you can change your date back to todays date

This one worked! Chromecast has been able to connect and update after being connected with wifi. Thanks!

Perfecto ya he llegado la actualización al Chromecast (2.ª generación): Versión de firmware 1.56.467165

Seems to work if you set the date to 3/7/25, setup device and return date to today... this is if you factory reset you device....

Where do I change the date?

You have to change the date  in your Phone to 8 march for example. Then configure your chromecast again and let it in wifi status and wait for  Google update.

How do i change date in my phone

In the phone settings

Me sirvió, muchísimas gracias 👌🏻.

Great, that worked perfectly. Thank you from Italy

thank you to the team that worked to make chromecast functional. I mention that the device came to life again and works. I mention that I accidentally reset the device but I solved it with the method of changing the date back to 08.03.2025 so I managed to reinstall it, and now it works. thanks once again to those who were involved in solving the problem

What device are you using to view streaming app?

Bonjour

6 jours et toujours pas de solution pour ceux qui ont suivi la page d'aide disant de réinitialiser...Les félicitations s'imposent !

Too late, I already factory reset my device and I'm UTTERLY angry at this. You have no idea on how impacted I was since I work with cinema distribution and work watching the titles in order to nationalise them, it's hard to watch a feature from computer screen! I truly hope you guys can be more didactic on your communications about your bugs, bear in mind not everyone understands well terms and stuff from tech niche as majority of people nowadays especially those ones who buy your stuff. I'm deeply disappointed at Google right now. Feel like a stupid.

I'll be waiting for the fix instructions for those who decided to factory reset, just hole it won't be a sphinx's enigma!

Try this: On your phone manually change the date and set it to march 8 (prior to the issue). After that use the Home app, and in devices use the key  add +,  it will look for your chromecast, if it finds it (normally it does with this procedure) I advise to enter your WiFi password manually, and answer  "not at this time " to the other questions, it should connect the Chromecast to your wifi. As soon as you see the clock back on your TV screen, it means it is online. Then is a matter of time to receive the patch. Today march 14 many users have reported they have already received the update. Leave the Chromecast on and wait since it can take some time. I advise to unplug and plug it back after 30 minutes if it has not been updated automatically, in order  to force the update. Good luck
