If you previously performed a factory reset, we’re happy to report that the Google Home app update will reach all users today.
Please make sure you’re on version 3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio. Check out this help center article if you need help updating the Google Home app.
If you’re still experiencing problems during setup, please reach out to customer support for further assistance.

Thank you for your patience as we worked to resolve the issue with Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices. As of today, this disruption has been fixed.
If you did not perform a factory reset, your device should now function normally. If it is still not functioning as intended check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.
For users who have performed a factory reset, you will need to update your Google Home app to the latest version (3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS) to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) or Chromecast Audio device again. The app roll out has begun and may take a few days to roll out to everyone. We’ll post a confirmation once the roll out to all users is complete.
We sincerely apologize for this disruption and any inconvenience it may have caused, and we are committed to ensuring all users are back up and running as quickly as possible.

Thank you again for your patience, we have some good news - the fix should reach all users today. If your device has received the update it should be on the following firmware versions:
Chromecast (2nd gen): Firmware version 1.56.467165
Chromecast Audio: Firmware version 1.56.467166
Check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.
Please note: If you performed a factory reset during the troubleshooting process, you may still be experiencing an issue where you cannot re-setup the device. The team is working diligently to resolve this, and we will provide next steps as soon as possible.

No entendía el porqué no me dejaba configurar mi Chrome cast a mi TV, me decía que no tenía prendida la red local y si la tengo, reinicie muchas veces mi celular, el Chrome y nada, ya tengo mas de una semana que no lo puedo usar, y si, esto me afecta Demaciado, háganlo lo más pronto posible Porfavor. Que mala atención.

Bonjour à tous,
Je viens de lire 1 commentaire positif sur le forum (je n'arrive plus à retrouver du nom de la personne pour le remercier.)
Concerne la panne de diffusion par CHROMECAST depuis maintenant 8 jours !!!!
Je pensais que tout était lié : smartphone et PC confonfus.
CASTEZ DE VOTRE PC (si vous en avez un bien sur ) SUR LA TV ET CA MARCHE......
Abandonnez les smartphones pour l'instant (chromecast seulement ).
Me voilà apaisée, je voulais vous faire profiter de la bonne nouvelle.
Un grand MERCI au membre de la Communauté qui se reconnaitra.

Ça marche avec le téléphone également:
_ ceux qui ont fait un factory reset, il faut reconnecter la Chromecast. Pour y arriver, il suffit de changer la date du telephone / tablette manuellement ( plus vieille que le 9 mars) et relancer le setup avec Google home. Ça permet de reconnecter la chrome cast au wifi et de recevoir le correctif de Google.
- ceux qui n'ont pas fait de reset, le déploiement du correctif est en cours. Visiblement débrancher / rebrancher électriquement la Chromecast "forcerait" l'installation du correctif selon d'autres membres du forum.

Yes consider the factory reset procedure described above.
_ change the date of your phone to march 7th
_ relaunch the setup with Google home to reconnect the Chromecast to your wifi

It has been now over five days we have not been able to cast ... from anything at all times for years ... to an absolute backhand.
Tried all the suggestions and tips that, not a google tech, but john does have been so kindly uploading and nothing so far has been working.
Two trillion dollars company that can't fix such nuisance pronto? And one that only seems more interested in finding extra ways to infiltrate the private lives of people even further?
The saddest is that after so many years, using the same device, the same tv and almost the same laptop to cast whatever needed... after only 30 miserable mins of non usage, we had to come back to this frustrating annoying humiliating situation.
How on Earth a device can stop from one minute to the other one to work? This is a problem that has been affecting thousands and thousands of users for quite some time now ...
So why the waiting time at all, when it is very obvious that all these problems have been caused by you. A two trillion dollars company that has not one employee around the planet that able remember to extend the expiry date for device's authentication (whatever) for an other ten years? In the whole company ... not one? And now everybody else, ergo Your Users, are obligated to put up with the consequences?
Customers' service that does not really exist. So far have been the users that have been working hard in trying to help all those thousands and thousands of unhappy frustrated left out customers, and NOT any of those techs that are employed and paid to also sort out problems caused by their and their managers of course, poor care 😞 😞 :-(. Why have to be always the consumers/users put to be the biggest losers?
On this innuendo ... Thank You Folks for trying to do google's techs job, but unfortunately for thousands and thousands of us ... none of them has helped to solve the problem 😞 😞 😞 ... just yet.

Just like the hundreds, if not thousands, of other Chromecast users, I have been unable to cast from any app to any device since 3/9/25. There is no way to contact Google, so it is unclear to me if they are even aware of the problem. Clearly, if they are aware, they do not care. I am trying very hard to not to write a long succession of swear words in all caps, mainly because I figure it would get my comment removed. This company is so unaccountable, so rapacious, so greedy, so undependable, and so untrustworthy. I know they don’t care, but if I am forced to buy another Chromecast-like device, it will not be anything from Google. DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYTHING FROM GOOGLE.
