Hey folks, 

If you previously performed a factory reset, we’re happy to report that the Google Home app update will reach all users today.

Please make sure you’re on version 3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio. Check out this help center article if you need help updating the Google Home app.

If you’re still experiencing problems during setup, please reach out to customer support for further assistance.

Hi folks,

Thank you for your patience as we worked to resolve the issue with Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices. As of today, this disruption has been fixed.

If you did not perform a factory reset, your device should now function normally. If it is still not functioning as intended check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.

For users who have performed a factory reset, you will need to update your Google Home app to the latest version (3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS) to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) or Chromecast Audio device again. The app roll out has begun and may take a few days to roll out to everyone. We’ll post a confirmation once the roll out to all users is complete.

We sincerely apologize for this disruption and any inconvenience it may have caused, and we are committed to ensuring all users are back up and running as quickly as possible.

Hi everyone,

Thank you again for your patience, we have some good news - the fix should reach all users today. If your device has received the update it should be on the following firmware versions:

Chromecast (2nd gen): Firmware version 1.56.467165

Chromecast Audio: Firmware version 1.56.467166

Check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.

Please note: If you performed a factory reset during the troubleshooting process, you may still be experiencing an issue where you cannot re-setup the device. The team is working diligently to resolve this, and we will provide next steps as soon as possible.

We have started to roll out a fix for the problem with Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices, which will be completed over the next few days. Your device must be connected to receive the update.

If you performed a factory reset during initial troubleshooting, you may still be experiencing an issue where you cannot re-setup your device. We are working to resolve this as soon as possible. Please continue to check the Community page here for updates and next steps.

An update on the situation: the team has identified the cause of the issue impacting Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices.

Please do not factory reset your device. If you previously performed a factory reset during troubleshooting, you may also be experiencing an issue where you're unable to re-setup your device. The team has identified the cause for this as well and is currently working on a fix.

We’re working to resolve this as soon as possible, and will keep you updated when there is more to share.

How I’ll know when it is fixed? I think my chromecast was factory reset when the troble started.

Pois é já faz 7 dias e o problema ainda não foi resolvido. Ou a empresa atualizou o sistema e está forçando os clientes a trocar de aparelho para os atualizados.

 

Até agora nada de resolver???

Trued the backdating the date to early Feb on phone and went further in update then previously.  Then was advised to unplug streaming device and still didn’t work but once I set date back to todays it finally started updating.  Took a good 5mims and now working like a charm thank you

Tell me the time, when will it be, it's going to be a week, I have been waiting for so many days

I for one would like to know how a MULTI-BILLION dollar company like Google could foul up something so catastrophically. If this ends up that the factory reset devices like mine are just perma-fudged I will be pursuing compensation in the form or newer device and perhaps further monetary compensation for the absolute lack of one on one communication. I have been ignored several times by your costumer support team or whoever the hell is running that absolute dumpster fire. I HAVE NO MEANS OF ENTERTAINMENT NOW BECAUSE SOMEONE WAS TOO LAZY OR TOO INCOMPETENT to do their job PROPERLY! A foul up like this better cost someone their job because obviously they are not equipped mentally and intellectually to have that job.

I fixed mine after factory reset .. I manually changed the date and time on my phone to a day before this update like march 1 and set it up .. wait till the chromecast download it's update and then change the day back to current date and time ....it works!!!

Em quantos dias o problema será resolvido? Quero demonstrar aqui minha insatisfação neste período, nunca tive o que reclamar até então, espero que resolvam o mais rápido possível e honestamente torço por não terem desativado o dispositivo devido o seu modelo, isso seria desleal para com os seus clientes . Desde já agradeço

but I appreciate you guys want to fix this old merchandise,So I just buy a Google TV streamer 4K and keep chromcast wait for you fix my problem

 

Admin, do you agree with whatever johnnyzero2 is proposing or is it a scam? It would be good to see what they are proposing without clicking on their link!

Setting the date on the device hosting Google Home to a date prior to the fault (I used 6 March) allowed me to re-establish connection to the Chromecast and conduct the initial set-up. Once connected to WiFi, the chromecast then downloaded its update allowing set-up to be completed. 

It would be so easy for you to publish this workaround.

Till when we expect the fix?

For those who performed factory reset, change the time of your phone back to some time before 9 March and relink the Chromecast with Google Home. The device will update automatically.

I factory reset without realizing I shouldn’t have and my device still won’t get connect to my network, is there anything else I can do please???

I never touched my devices or made any changes.  I have four Chromecast Audio devices and they just started working when I tried today.  Nothing had to be done.  Never unpluged or touched them! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
