Hey folks,
If you previously performed a factory reset, we’re happy to report that the Google Home app update will reach all users today.
Please make sure you’re on version 3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio. Check out this help center article if you need help updating the Google Home app.

Thank you for your patience as we worked to resolve the issue with Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices. As of today, this disruption has been fixed.
If you did not perform a factory reset, your device should now function normally. If it is still not functioning as intended check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.
For users who have performed a factory reset, you will need to update your Google Home app to the latest version (3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS) to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) or Chromecast Audio device again. The app roll out has begun and may take a few days to roll out to everyone. We’ll post a confirmation once the roll out to all users is complete.
We sincerely apologize for this disruption and any inconvenience it may have caused, and we are committed to ensuring all users are back up and running as quickly as possible.

Thank you again for your patience, we have some good news - the fix should reach all users today. If your device has received the update it should be on the following firmware versions:
Chromecast (2nd gen): Firmware version 1.56.467165
Chromecast Audio: Firmware version 1.56.467166
Check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.
Please note: If you performed a factory reset during the troubleshooting process, you may still be experiencing an issue where you cannot re-setup the device. The team is working diligently to resolve this, and we will provide next steps as soon as possible.

After reset and following instructions including setting date back to Mar1st than adding the chromecast device, connection happened (yay), chromecast was automatically updated and everything is working, thank you so much to whomever posted this fix 😊

Problem SOLVED:
1. Uninstall Google Home app
2. Install again Google Home
3. Change date and hour to your mobile phone to march 10th 10:00
4. Set-up again Chromecast (receive update)
5. Change you device date in automatic mode.

Muchas gracias por todos los comentarios. El mío ya funciona. He seguido los pasos que han sugerido muchos usuarios:
1. Desconectar la fecha automática del teléfono desde ajustes.
2. Configurar manualmente otra fecha anterior al domingo 9 de marzo de 2025, concretamente he puesto el 1 de marzo de 2025.
3. Configurar el dispositivo desde la aplicación Home.
4. Se ha instalado y los he conectado a la misma red wifi.
5. En un principio no reconocía el chromecast, pero al volver a configurar la fecha automática, lo ha reconocido y, ahora, funciona perfectamente.
Muchas gracias por los comentarios y la ayuda.
Espero que pueda servir de ayuda a otros usuarios.

Je chromecast volledig opnieuw installeren. Je zult zien dat hij een relevant woord heeft. Ondertussen mag je de datum terug naar huidige datum veranderen. Rustig wachten tot hij volledig geupdate is is terug. Kan snel maar ook een dag van 2 overgaan. Bij mij 2 dagen dacht ik. Ikzelf had ook fabrieksrecet gedaan. Door deze methode werkt hij terug perfect

Well google disappointed frustrated is just the beginning of how this issue has affected so many of your customers. I don't think he response have patience is acceptable or the time frame to fix the issue . When someone relies on the device to stream tv how could this time period be reasonable. I'm sure I'm one of many that purchased googles latest tv streamer at a cost of 3 times a chromecast plus a hdmi cord required not included for another 20$ so total purchase price of 150$ plus tax or sit around having patience but no way to watch television except via cell phone . So I'm sure the boost in sales of google latest product is a huge upside in this mess and perhaps made it not high importance to find the solution for a old model of their streaming devices . Huge turn off for any future products that I will NOT be purchasing after really being left with no choice with a non functional streaming device and very little info provided by google and a very slow response to get it fixed . Google needs to do better . As I'm certain the inconvenience frustration and like nyself purchasing another streamer at 4 times what I paid for my chromecast is just unacceptable and googke will do nothing to compensate for so many people left with no way to stream tv out of blue for a significant amount of time !! This was very poorly handled and managed and be very interested in knowing how much money was made over forcing the hand of many to purchase a new device or just sit patiently till the unforseen future hoping the issue gets resolved!!!

Any idea how much longer? I did a factory reset as pee the instructions to do so. This is getting really annoying now 😕😡
