If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.

I cannot get my 2nd generation Chromecast authenticated for some reason, my Google Home app is up to date (3.32.69.2).

I performed a factory reset of the Chromecast because I hadn't used it in years and my Wi-Fi has changed etcetera.

When I open the Google Home app on my Google Pixel 6a it tells me that the Chromecast needs to be activated before setup. It tells me that I need to install the Device Utility app, but I cannot install that app on my phone because the Android version is too new.

When I install the Device Utility app on an older phone, that then tells me that it cannot be authenticated and I need to visit the support which is then sending me in circles.

Might it be because my Chromecast wasn't close to being up to date that I'm having these issues still?

prueba cmabiando la fecha del dispositivo (pixel 6 o el que sea) a una fecha anterior al  de febrero de 2025

I set the date on both phones before february 2025 and I could get the Chromecast connected to the Wi-Fi. I still cannot set it up in Google Home, but at least I can cast now!

Thank you for the tip!

Yes

update the date of your phones now and hope you could set it up in Google Home
