iPhone cannot communicate with the device. It worked till several days ago. I removed the device from Home and tried to add it back, but after connecting it to my WiFi it says that my iPhone cannot communicate with it. So it doesn’t show up in my device list. How can I fix this ?

03-11-2025 10:54 AM
Hola, a mí me ocurrió igual, respuestas?
03-11-2025 10:58 AM

Sdos!

both chromecast devices were working fine on sunday, then not working the next day. have tried everything that the internet and google suggested for troubleshooting. get to the point where it tries to connect with my wifi, says connected then immediately say something went wrong. i have checked every setting on my iphone. internet has not changed or nothing else has changed for that matter. google home device and speaker still with no troubles at all. getting kind of frustrated cause it shouldn't be this hard to figure out. will there be a fix cause i don't think it is anything on my end!

I have two Chromecasts one audio one video, neither are working. Having rest one, to no avail, I discover that Google are telling us NOT to reset even though its their fallback instruction. I understand this is a multinational issue. When are Google going to get this sorted please???

What if I have 2 Chromecast 2nd gen. and I have firmware reset them regarding fault identification !?

The problem is caused by an expired certificate when the fix will be announced by google you can set your phone's date to be before the certificate expiration date so that you can re-add the device and update the firmware. I'm not entirely sure if this will work but i hope so because i'm in the same situation as you.

Dude…. Seriously ?
03-11-2025 11:12 AM
My chrome-cast regularly will go offline from the google home app while clearly being connected to wi-fi and displaying on my TV.
I have tried to rectify it by restarting the chrome cast unit, the wifi router and my iPhone. I’ve also tried to use my other phone (Samsung) and my iPad but it doesn’t work. None of the apps I’ve tried (Disney+, Netflix, Britbox and SVT Play could connect to the chrome cast either.
any ideas?

Bonjour,
03-11-2025 12:45 PM
Got the same problem and after reset I can’t reconnect to WiFi.
and my other cast are visible on router and from apps but not reachable for stream and from YouTube I get this message.
unsecure unit.
Cromecast not able to verifyed
it could depend on outdated firmware.

Worldwide problem. If you did a factory reset (google posted to not factory reset, 24 hours after the problem started and to just wait for a fix from them) you can reconnect by setting your phone's date to a date before march 9th (march 8th or previous) then normal setup, then once connected reset to the correct date. You still won't be able to actually cast before Google fixes the problem though
03-11-2025 10:29 AM
Unable to cast since yesterday as getting the authentication error message while connecting to chromecast. Everything was working fine until 9thof March but since then unable to cast/connect with chromecast.
03-11-2025 12:03 PM
I've the same problem
03-11-2025 12:17 PM
do NOT factory reset the chromecast 2nd gen; but if you did it (as I did), then use this "tip": on your phone (or tablet), force de date to march 7th, and then, using Google Home, add your device again. This way, you'll be able to put chromecast online again, and wait for some kind of fix from Google. It worked fine for me, but still I cannot cast (transmit) any content to the device...
03-11-2025 06:20 PM
I tried this and it helped, thank you! Also can't cast anything though.
03-11-2025 09:33 AM
Since yesterday, the Chromecasts have unexpectedly disappeared from my Wi-Fi network. When I try to configure them again, I continually receive an error message that the device cannot authenticate with my mobile device/tablet. Following the instructions on Google Help, the factory settings have been restored. What will I do? It turns out that it is not advisable to do so. When will there be a solution to this problem?
03-11-2025 09:42 AM
Facing same issue from 3 days, it seems Google is purposely forcing us throw away old device and buy new expensive Chromecast devices..🙄🙄
03-11-2025 09:48 AM
03-11-2025 09:51 AM
Set your phone to march 8, you can get it back on the wifi but you can’t stream. We all have to wait till google comes with a update.
03-11-2025 09:58 AM
My problem started yesterday. My home network can see it, but my Android phone cannot use it to Chromecast to my TV. So I restore it after trying different other procedures to connect the problem. Now, it gave me a message that I can not authenticate my device.
03-11-2025 10:05 AM

Same issue here and we wait for Google to respond with a fix I suppose.
