Hey folks,
If you previously performed a factory reset, we’re happy to report that the Google Home app update will reach all users today.
Please make sure you’re on version 3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio. Check out this help center article if you need help updating the Google Home app.
If you’re still experiencing problems during setup, please reach out to customer support for further assistance.

Thank you for your patience as we worked to resolve the issue with Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices. As of today, this disruption has been fixed.
If you did not perform a factory reset, your device should now function normally. If it is still not functioning as intended check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.
For users who have performed a factory reset, you will need to update your Google Home app to the latest version (3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS) to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) or Chromecast Audio device again. The app roll out has begun and may take a few days to roll out to everyone. We’ll post a confirmation once the roll out to all users is complete.
We sincerely apologize for this disruption and any inconvenience it may have caused, and we are committed to ensuring all users are back up and running as quickly as possible.

Thank you again for your patience, we have some good news - the fix should reach all users today. If your device has received the update it should be on the following firmware versions:
Chromecast (2nd gen): Firmware version 1.56.467165
Chromecast Audio: Firmware version 1.56.467166
Check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.
Please note: If you performed a factory reset during the troubleshooting process, you may still be experiencing an issue where you cannot re-setup the device. The team is working diligently to resolve this, and we will provide next steps as soon as possible.

Thank you for fixing this issue. Don’t know how you did it as I was checking every day since your communique above… I was about to go and buy a fire stick today, decided to check for one last time and voila! My Netflix works again 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 Sigh, we’re a whole lot of sad first world slicks addicted to our streaming devices.

If you performed a factory reset, you can manually set your phone or tablet date to March 5th and setup your Chromecast. After the setup is completed, it will update by itself with the fix. Just got mine fixed this way today.

I deleted the Chromecast from Google home, hoping to reload it. This didn't work of course. I've tried since that and it won't find the Chromecast when it scans. Do I still need to just wait for this fix??

My Chromecast Disconnected from WiFi; I tried reconnecting to no avail; I re-booted both the WiFi and Google Chromecast and get as far as connecting the the error message that something went wrong please check that your device settings are set to Local—which they are. I even tried using my older iPhone 6s on WiFi and same message. Nothing happened between the time it was working flawlessly and it disconnected. What is up Google? If you ever want my business for ANYTHING again you’d better fix this and fix it now because this is currently my ONLY means of streaming with an older non-streaming Hisense 55” television. This has gone on far too long; I’m not buying a new television but I can go buy a Roku or Amazon Firestick. For God’s sake get together here; you know you did something—and it was YOU because i hadn’t updated Apple iOS until after this issue—thinking it was Apple’s fault. Get it fix and please email me when it’s done—I work long hours just as you do and I don’t have time for all this nonsense. I had used Google exclusively for 20+ years as my primary email; I expect more from you.

Good evening!!! What can we say about this chaos? The technology company doesn't know how to solve the problem. How could we imagine that a factory reset shouldn't have been done, since every time there was a problem it was solved like this. What a joke, Mr. Google. Please solve this soon.

Cuando va a estar resuelto? Dejó de funcionar el sábado y recién el lunes pidieron que no se restablezca, es OBVIO que el 90% de los usuarios ya lo había reestablecido entre el sábado y Domingo. Necesitamos que vuelva a funcionar! Si tengo que comprar otro dispositivo, será de otra marca.

How much longer do we have to wait for the issue to be fixed for those of us that reset the device. I was told when I rung customer care that this would be resolved in 24 to 48 hours 6 days ago and it has not been. I want a refund of my device replaced please.

If you are still having problems because you factor reset you Chromecast. Go to the date and time on your phone and set it to before the 8th of March then go back to your home app and try to reset up your Chromecast this worked for me
