Google Store only 3.30.1.5.
Where is the update from?
03-17-2025 11:59 PM
I did no factory reset and I can see the correct firmware version 1.56.467165 is installed. I also restarted the chromecast, just to be sure. Unfortunately I'm still not able to use the chromecast. What is going wrong?
03-18-2025 12:16 AM
Thanks you, all up and running again now. I had done a factory reseat last Sunday. Updated my Home app and added chromecast device. All fine again!

Is version 3.30.1.6 of Google Home available on the Play Store? In my country, it's still 3.30.1.5.
03-18-2025 12:28 AM
Still "Couldn't authenticate Chromecast" 😞
03-18-2025 02:45 AM
03-18-2025 05:04 PM
But in my Play Store, there's no update for Google Home 3.30.1.6; it's still 3.30.1.5. Is version 3.30.1.6 available in your country?
03-18-2025 05:10 PM
I just fixed mine! Someone said to change the date in your phone settings to before 9 Mar 2025. Then go in to Google home app and setup your chromecast. Then change the phone date back when the setup is complete. Mine actually did some kind of update so the setup took a little longer. Good luck.

This will only work if the Google Home update is available - it clearly is not for many, many people.

And even after you get it -the update( for me & many others), & follow the directions, it STILL DOESN'T WORK! BOTH OF mine FAILED! 😭😭😭 I DONT THINK ITS EVER GETTING FIXED!!
03-18-2025 12:59 AM
Have followed the Factory Reset users instructions, but it is still not working and saying it cannot "authenticate the device" and to check on here. So it's a big circle that gets nowhere at the moment as once I come here, it just says to update Home app (which I have done) and that it "should be fixed" now.
03-18-2025 05:39 AM
This happened to me so I just left it overnight and tried again in the morning and it worked
03-18-2025 05:05 PM
Is version 3.30.1.6 available in your country?
03-18-2025 06:22 PM
No. I'm in Canada and it is not available on my Android phone although it shows up on my laptop for some reason. Wouldn't it be nice if Google actually answered people's questions about this and maybe explained when or if it will be rolled out to other countries. I assume it's available in the almighty USA. Just use the time reset hack and forget about waiting for Google to fix it for you. I did that today and it worked.

My Google Chromecast works again! Many thanks for solving the problem.
03-18-2025 01:13 AM
Thank you sooo much! I’m so excited to have my chromecast working again!
03-18-2025 01:35 AM
Brilliant! All sorted. Many thanks.

Thank you for the huge step up in communication, I really appreciate the effort.
It's unfortunate the community's overall mood dipped pretty badly before we got the regular updates, though, but I do appreciate you stepping it up.
Nice one ✨️

Hi!
I have not factory reset my chromecast device, but it keeps loading the “Google TV” logo. I cannot connect it with Home app. I tried few times to disconnect it from cable, HDMI outlet but it still stays on the loading page. Could you tell me how to fix it? Thank you.

Ik kan chromecast nog steeds niet instellen. Het lijkt me dat de oplossing vanuit fabrieksinstellingen niet werkt.
03-18-2025 04:56 AM
My Chromecast is still not working and I tried to update it but I can't find any update on the TV to update my Chromecast because when it started in march 9th I did press the reset button and I tried to reconnect it but I didn't know it was a system problem so I'm having trouble connecting my phone to my Chromecast if there's any other issue please let me know as soon as possible thank you
