The Google TV Streamer doesn't support Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio, please fix that!

The Google TV Streamer is not a device with support for Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio, however, the device's audio settings are listing those two audio codecs as supported but no audio playback is actually output, please fix that inconvenience since that is confusing many users.

Thank you for your confirmation.

I will mark this post as resolved since the Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio issue was also fixed in the new firmware.

Hi branches78,

Thanks for posting. I'm sorry to hear about the situation since you are not experiencing the Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio on the Google TV Streamer. We are sorry for the inconvenience that this can cause. But we would love to hear your feedback. We're constantly working on improvements, and your input helps us shape future features.
Please let me know if you have more questions.

Best regards,
Jenny

I’ve switched from G tv 4K to G tv Streamer 4K and since I use the streamer, I can’t use sound formats ( like dd plus, DTS or Auro 3D format from Marantz) on my Marantz receiver anymore. The only selection is stereo, all Channel stereo or dolby digital. It looks like that the codecs are not available or the input format is not the same as my media player, blu-ray player or my former G TV  4K. Can you fix it please 🙏

Hello,

Make sure you have selected "Auto" on both audio options the Streamer currently has, with both you should be able to play:

Dolby Digital and Dolby Digital Plus with and without Dolby Atmos transcoded to multichannel PCM due to the MS12 software stack, also know as Dolby MAT, the Dolby Atmos metadata will still be output to your receiver.

You will be also be able to play DTS, DTS 96/24, DTS-ES 6.1 and the DTS Core from DTS-HD High Resolution Audio and Master Audio streams.

Make sure you use the Auto option on your marantz receiver if available.

Yes, both settings are set on auto. With the LG installed Chromecast I've got not any audio output problems.

First photo is with the streamer and the second Photo is with the Chromecast of the LG (OSD marantz is not possible) with the virtual sound option via the Marantz

There is a new firmware update currently rolling out, please install it and test your gear again.

Hi Branches78,

I’ve tested it with the new firmware (UTTK.241210.003) which was available since yesterday and the result is the same.

Somehow the data stream of the Google tv streamer give’s a signal with an other format than the former chromecast. If the movie or music is in dolby Atmos there is no problem, but if it is DD or DD+ or even DTS I can’t use the immersive virtual sound options of the Marantz anymore. I had all the chromecast versions before (4K versions) without problems and even with the built-in Chromecast of the LG tv I have not these problems.

Hello,

The Google TV Streamer has something called MS12 software stack, also known as Dolby MAT and that functionality transcode Dolby Digital and Dolby Digital Plus to multichannel PCM, still  you should be able to use Dolby Surround, Neural DTS:X and Auro3D.

Since you are using the Auto option, can you try by using the Dolby Digital Plus option instead?.

Hi,

yes that did the trick. I selected the Dolby Digital Plus option instead of auto and all the sound options are available again. 😅

Thanks for your support 😀
